Cause of Ginna Shutdown Determined (nuke plant)

Operators of the Ginna Nuclear Power Plant said they determined the cause of the automatic shutdown earlier this week.

Constellation Energy Nuclear Group staff found a leaking oil pipe in a turbine control, which caused the plant to shutdown as it is designed to do. Repairs are underway to fix the oil system.

A spokesperson for Ginna said all safety systems functioned properly.

Once the pipe is fixed, the plant will be started up again.
