Special Election in Minnesota Shows Strength of “Worker Bee” Message
I think so many are just tired of TeaOP's mantra of big government. They are hurting and want something tangible.

Congratulations to Chris:-)

Special Election in Minnesota Shows Strength of “Worker Bee” Message

“I broke a jinx or something,” said Chris Eaton, who was elected last night to the Minnesota State Senate. Eaton won a seat in Senate District 46 in the area of Brooklyn City and Brooklyn Park, where three previous Democrats have lost to Republicans in special elections. But Eaton’s consistent focus on jobs and health care led to a crushing victory over opponent Cory Jenson, with 61 percent of the vote.

Chris Eaton isn’t the scion of a powerful family or a wealthy businessperson. She is a registered nurse who directed health services for Mental Health Resources, Inc. in St. Paul. She is a member of the Minnesota Nurses Association and AFSCME, and has volunteered on campaigns since 1972.

“I’ve been one of the workers bees,” said Eaton when she started to her run back in July. The need for common sense was clear then, as Republicans in the statehouse stood stubbornly against Governor Mark Dayton’s proposal for a small tax increase on the wealthiest Minnesotans, leading to a government shutdown.
...................
Her opponent Cory Jensen pushed the same line that the GOP has used for 30 years: government is the problem, and that taxes and regulations are the only forces holding back businesses from hiring. And last night, he went down by a huge margin.

7. Great news - hopefully populist campaigns will be the way of the future.
I can't believe even Democrats (granted, mostly DLC/Turd Way Democrats) are still running on variants of the old trickle-down economics theme. That goes over like a lead balloon with most voters. 61% of the vote, huh? Very encouraging.
