School Board Treads Lightly After Principal Bullies Student
The Monroe County Board of Education in Tennessee is reviewing its dress code after high school student Chris Sigler was allegedly harassed by his principal for wearing a t-shirt that read, "Gay Straight Alliance: We've Got Your Back" in support of establishing a GSA at his school.

Earlier this year, Sigler and other students collected 150 signatures on a petition to form a club at Sequoyah High School in Madisonville, Tenn, but a counter-group of students started circulating their own petition against the GSA. Principal Maurice Moser then announced that any students discussing the GSA on school grounds would face punishment. Students were also told they could not form the club without a faculty sponsor. Several teachers initially stepped forward with interest in sponsoring the club, but they all withdrew their interest after a meeting with Moser.

“A lot of kids get harassed at our school because they’re gay or they have gay friends, and we just want a space where we can all support each other and do something positive,” Sigler said Wednesday, according to the American Civil Liberties Union, which is assisting Sigler and other students form GSA

On Sept. 27, Sigler wore the shirt in protest. He was told to cover up the shirt, but two days later he wore the shirt again.

1. a suit against this school district oughta be a slam dunk....if they did this....
"Principal Maurice Moser then announced that any students discussing the GSA on school grounds would face punishment." Talking on school grounds subjects one to punishment?

2. This is one Principal that needs to be sent packing. How do we expect to get
across to students that bullying is wrong in any form, with asshole Principals like this?

3. You see, a concept a lot of these school napoleons never seem to fully grasp..
Edited on Thu Oct-20-11 03:14 PM by truebrit71
..is that one day the kids will graduate from their stupid little schools and leave the realm of their authority, and then, one day in the future, just by chance, they might run into the very same kids that they used to pick on mercilessly at school, as adults somewhere out on the street, or at the mall, or at a bar, and that's when they get the ever-loving shit beat out of them...

7. Something like that happened a few years after high school...
I long time buddy of mine (we had gone through elementary through HS together) were hanging out and along comes a former elementary school teacher we both had. The guy was an abusive alcoholic bastard.

Anyway, my buddy, never one to mince words, walks up to the fuck and says...

"hey, aren't you mr. so and so?"

He responds with a smile, probably thinking that we were part of the clique of ex-students that "adored" him.

A little background. He was the type of creepy bastard that "loved the little girls" and his, as he called them, his "special" boys. Never was part of them, never knew why he called them that, never wanted to know.

Anyway, back to my friend and I.

So he responds, "yes, that's me".

What came next from my buddy was epic. He let loose with a slew of horror stories perpetrated by this old bastard upon him. Nightmarish stuff that I never knew about. I had my run ins with the old bastard, but my buddy apparently had some more, shall I say, "interesting" moments with the old prick.

My buddy's tore into the guy without mercy. Whithering, comes to mind.

After it was all over. The guy ran more than walked away.

After a moment, my buddy caught his breath and said, "I have been waiting my whole life (up to that point) to say that to that old fuck. Let's grab a burger. It's on me. I feel great!".

some of the choice tidbits this old bastard did. He used to hang the boys that didn't do their homework but their belt loop from a hook in the ceiling that he installed. He would lock kids in a special locker and lock it if they were bad...all day long. no bathroom breaks. He took no end to the berating of kids who did their work wrong in front of the whole class, calling them stupid, worthless, lazy and losers who would never amount to anything, he had a paddle he called the golden rule: hands, backs of thighs, and rear ends were it's specialty. he would laugh at us when he would administer his "discipline". I could go on and on.

I heard the fucker died a few years ago, good riddance.

6. Treading lightly? If that were me I'd pressing full on criminal assault charges.
And I'd sue the school, name the district and the board in the process. But that's just me.
