I remember a question from my anthropology professor, "what's the difference between a tyrannical democracy and a benevolent dictatorship?" If libya had universal healthcare and one of the highest standards of living in africa, is it about to change?

Saddam allegedly killed the kurds during the war between iran-iraq. Saddam was not a nice man; however, baghdad was a modern metropolis, women voted, women had careers; and I'd say that more Iraqis have been killed during our aggression, than what saddam had ever dreamt of killing.

Time will tell how these countries turn out. However, if global corporate interest influences these governments, it's just going to be more corruption, with little social progression for the masses. It's going to be like what is going on here. Where corporate money has more influence than the people.
