St Paul's Cathedral has closed to visitors for the first time since World War II because of the anti-capitalist demonstrators camping on its doorstep, its dean has said.
The decision was taken with a "heavy heart" for health and safety reasons, said the Right Reverend Graeme Knowles.
Occupy London Stock Exchange has been in St Paul's Churchyard since Saturday.
The group said the camp was reorganised in keeping with fire safety needs and it was "disappointed" by the closure.
Protesters are currently meeting to get a consensus on what to do next but a spokesman said they planned to continue the occupation.
