Sen. Sherrod Brown Fights to Create Jobs & Grow the Economy - Gotta love it!
Quote from email:

Sen. Brown Takes Central Ohio Values to Washington; Fights to Create Jobs and Grow the Economy

Our economic recovery and the long-term health of our economy requires policies that will revitalize our middle class. Sen. Brown has led efforts to create jobs and strengthen the middle class:

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown discusses the Hiring Heroes Act with Ohio veterans.

Creating a National Infrastructure Bank: Within the construction industry, more than 1.5 million workers are unemployed. Sen. Brown recently announced new legislation that would create a national infrastructure bank to provide loans and loan guarantees for critical infrastructure projects. It would leverage public and private funding to create jobs and repair roads, bridges, ports and railways.

Modernizing Schools: The average U.S. public school building is 40 years old and many school districts lack the resources necessary to address the backlog of maintenance and repair facing our nation’s public schools. This backlog is an opportunity to invest in our schools—providing students with the world-class facilities they deserve—while creating thousands of new jobs in construction and building trades. In September Sen. Brown introduced The Fix America’s Schools Today (FAST) Act to create jobs through the modernization and repair of schools around the country. The bill is now part of President Obama’s American Jobs Act, which would help communities make these critical investments while putting people to work.

Preventing Layoffs: To prevent further devastating layoffs, employers facing lower demand must have the flexibility to choose alternatives to layoffs. To this end, Sen. Brown introduced the Layoff Prevention Act, which would provide eligible employers the option to reduce all employees’ hours rather than laying off a portion of the workforce. Workers in turn would receive partial unemployment insurance benefits to make up for lost wages.

Assisting Trade-Affected Workers: Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) ensures that workers who lose their jobs and financial security as a result of globalization have an opportunity to transition to new jobs in emerging sectors of the economy. In September, the Senate passed legislation Sen. Brown introduced to extend TAA, helping workers displaced by foreign trade to train for new jobs. Thousands of Ohio workers will continue to benefit from this critical program.

Stopping Currency Manipulation: When China manipulates its currency, Chinese imports are automatically priced 25-40 percent lower than American-made products. This puts Ohio and American manufacturers at a serious disadvantage. Sen. Brown is leading the fight to pass the Currency Exchange Rate Oversight Reform Act of 2011 to help create and protect American jobs by cracking down on Chinese currency manipulation.

............

When you look at this list how you ask can even a Republican stand in the way of these bills? They show the difference in what the Repub's are working on with the constant hammering of anti-abortion bills and keeping the wealthy from paying their fair share. These are the kinds of legislation that strengthens the Middle Class and our Country. There IS a difference and we need to let people know who have Blue Dog Dem's or Repulicans to "represent" them it is time for a change! Thank you to my fantastic Sen. Sherrod Brown!
