Super Congress to cut SS, Medicare, and Medicaid in order to preserve military industrial complex.
Edited on Fri Oct-21-11 11:19 PM by woo me with science
The Super Committee is coming to consensus on a plan that will slash Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid in order to preserve the military industrial complex.

Please write and call the committee, your representatives, and the White House to express your outrage.

And please do everything you can to support OWS. They appear to be our only hope.

1. Qu'elle surprise!
No one on either side will stop it either. Can we expect a veto from Obama? Hell no. He's in agreement.

15. So, we'll just ignore it until they finish their work? No way.
You know that's the way it'll turn out, the Pentagon stands while all around it lies in ruins, don't you?

9. If they do that in this political climate, it's going to be like throwing gasoline on a fire.
Edited on Sat Oct-22-11 12:44 AM by Marr
I have little doubt that they will. Our political class is supremely arrogant and out of touch and frankly, I think that was the whole point of this super committee anyway. They couldn't make the cuts happen during that debt ceiling charade, and had to put it off and reorganize it.

23. Reorganize it behind closed doors.
This story was buried in the media. The committee is trying to work as quietly as possible, in the hope that this can happen quickly, with as little push back as possible.

An investment analyst had an opinion that agrees with a poll taken by a magazine and this is the basis for the article. What a load of shit.

21. Did anyone really ever doubt that cutting SS, Medicare and Medicaid were the intended primary goal
of the super committee from the get go? Congress members could never have voted on such cuts and been reelected, so the super committee was developed to mandate the cuts, while giving Congress members the advantage of plausible deniability, "I would have never voted for it", they can say, but the cuts are done just the same. The talk of cuts to the military budget were simply a talking point diversion to misdirect public attention, and concern, away from the Super Committee as long as possible. I said this back when the Super Committee was formed, as the reason for it, and the real goals for it, were quite obvious. Americans are so easily duped.
