If Anyone In The World Ever Deserved A Nobel PEACE Prize, It's Pete Seeger
Edited on Sat Oct-22-11 09:34 PM by KittyWampus
I am not posting much lately.

But I just had to say that out loud (figuratively speaking on a message board).

Others echoed the same sentiment in a thread about him showing up with TOM PAXTON (and Arlo G.) to OWS.

And btw, today around 3pm about 250 motorcycles went down Broadway in Manhattan, don't know if they were going to circle around OWS but I'd love to find out if they did.

Freaking impressive sight.

3. Proud to be the 5th rec on this.
Pete Seeger has been in my life, since I have had a life, and now that I am 56 I realize this...
How cool is that?

10. "to every thing there is a season" . . .
consider . . .

for years, the government considered Pete Seeger a dangerous person, an enemy of the state, and monitored his every movement . . . he was even banned from the airwaves when he pleaded the First Amendment (not the Fifth) during the McCarthy anti-communist witch hunt . . .

flash forward . . . not quite sure of the year, but sometime during the Clinton Administration, that same government presents Pete with a Kennedy Center Honor -- the most prestigious award for a performing artist the government can bestow . . . thus confirming the lyrics of a song Pete wrote several decades prior . . .

"to every thing there is a season . . . and a time to every purpose under heaven" . . .

12. Acually, he didn't write those lyrics.
That is straight out of the bible: Ecclesiastes - Chapter 3

Ecc 3:1 To every a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Ecc 3:2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up planted;
Ecc 3:3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
Ecc 3:4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
Ecc 3:5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
Ecc 3:6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
Ecc 3:7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
Ecc 3:8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Let the Freeper heads explode over that one.
