Maybe we need to occupy congress |
|
Congress IS THE PROBLEM! Our congressman are doing the bidding of lobbbyists and not the people. When are we going to stop them from selling us out for money from big business? They look at holding a congressional seat as a springboard to personal wealth. THAT IS WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Until we hold them fully accountable for every vote and stop this damned "good ole boy" shit things are not going to change. So, how do we make them stop what they are doing and start building a nation worth living in for ALL Americans and not just the wealthy? The only thing I got? Kick their asses out! Every damned one of them!

3. Multiple term congressional seats isn't working...... |
|
....it only entrenches them into the system making it harder to get them out. There are some who appear not to abuse their seats, but I don't trust any of them, even Sanders. As long as money can buy influence, our system will remain broken. And we all know everything is for sell, especially votes in congress! The media won't do anything for fear they will lose access, so that leaves it up to us. The only power we have is our vote, which seems to be decreasing in value with electronic voting that can easily be manipulated. The only recourse I see is full out rebellion on our congress critters.

4. We need term limits! The president has term limits why should this be any different? |

Serving in political office was never meant to be a lifetime commitment.

8. Term limits are a really bad idea |

The extreme right loves term limits because it enables them to target open seats where none of the candidates is well known, giving money and organized pressure groups a strong advantage -- particularly in the party primaries. They were campaigning for terms limits in California years ago for just that reason.
The replacement of Anthony Weiner by a Tea Party Republican is a foretaste of what could happen almost anywhere if there were term limits on Congress members.
Advocating term limits is just asking for moneyed interests, self-funded wealthy candidates, and the extreme right-wing to dominate politics even more than they already do.

Perhaps the occupation movement needs to have a presence at the Capital in DC.
Indeed, they are the problem.

7. Occupy needs to do both. Keep the pressure on....... |

Wall Street because that is where the influence is coming from and also put pressure on Congress for acting on that influence. That way the two are tied as one which is the actual reality.
