Who do you think's going to get the Republican nomination? |
|
Just figured I'd throw that one out for discussion, out of curiosity as much as anything else. Most of the people with their hats in the ring at this point seem kind of wacky-fringe even by Republican primary standards, but then again Palin was the nominee last time for all practical purposes, so I'm open to the possibility of being terribly, terribly surprised.
So yeah - who do you guys think the Democrats will be campaigning against next fall? One of the names competing already? Someone more obscure? One of the perennials who jumps in sooner or later in every campaign?

Romney with the delicious possibility that his nomination would create a fatal schism in the Repukes that might put them on the well-deserved roal to political oblivion.

Because he simply doesn't have a credible challenger who is both ignorant and kooky enough for all the social conservatives to rally around and at the same time not be too much of a loose cannon. Such a creature simply does not exist. So by default Romney will most likely get the nomination.

but I'm hoping for Cain. Cain has no clue about much and President Obama could really make him sweat at the debates. (unless, of course, Cain has a wire in his ear like dimson had.)

10. Perry, because the Kochs will infuse a gazillion dollars into his campaign. |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-23-11 01:25 PM by McCamy Taylor
If Dumbya can get nominated, so can Perry.
The number of people who have seen Perry act like an imbecile during the GOP debates---a handful.
The number of people who will see his face plastered across a slick ad voiced by someone who sounds like he can actually add two plus two----million and millions.
The oil industry wants Perry. They do not want Romney or Cain----too much ego involved in those two men. Too much of a chance that they will buck their corporate masters in an effort to preserve their legacies. Perry is just like UK's Blair, fondly known as "Bush's poodle." He will bark, roll over and shake on command.
I think Jeb will back Perry, in hopes that the "dumb as a bag of rocks" guy will stumble---and in 2016 the GOP will start looking for someone smart. Jeb is an asshole but he is a smart asshole, like his dad.

has that stupid arrogant swagger that teabaggers love, as well as that "crazy" similar to Palin and Bachman. Romney's religion rules him out.

Mitt will take New Hampshire, but Perry will crush him in S. Carolina. And if Palin, Huckabee, Asstorum, and Bachman all throw their support behind Guv Goodhair, well........voila..you have the GOP NOM.

I honestly think it will be Newt. He has every qualification. He makes the Tea Party look smart, and they like that. He will pander and sell out to anyone. And most important, he has done his time - and that matters in the Republican Party. I'm telling you, it will be Newt.

Jeb would win over Obama if he promised to bring his War Criminal brother's entire White House to trial for war crimes and treason.
It would be a land slide.
Charlie and the football, they'd all be pardoned the day after the Inauguration. And given their own bank or something?
And the entire military would be re purposed into Jeb's Secret Service detail. He's need a little more protection from his own citizens. -90% Jimmy
