Lobbyist to take helm of Florida GOP

January 17, 2011 —

David Bitner, a former legislator turned Tallahassee lobbyist, was elected chairman of the Florida Republican Party Saturday, ending a bitterly contested battle for the party post.

Bitner succeeds state Sen. John Thrasher, who stepped into the post after former chairman Jim Greer was expelled and arrested on charges of misusing party funds.
