Poll question: Who else is closing a bank account November 5th? |
|
I have taken my money out of my BOA account already and I just emailed HR the form to switch my direct deposit to my new account.
I hope to be one of many walking in to close their accounts on November 5th.
As far as I'm concerned BOA practically declared war against the US taxpayer with the 75 trillion in debt they transferred.
Taking our FDIC insured money out of BOA is the only way we can protect ourselves.

3. I went with WF after Wachovia sold out. No problems and a very |
|
good online customer service. Many conveniences offered. So far, as dubious as I have been, no complaints. I did send the message that if they started to charge me for using my debit card I would be gone. So far so good.

got rid of BOA years ago - happy with the variety we have now (not terribly much in most of the accounts, but we've got a good mix).

and thankfully our banks are regulated big time so we don't have the USA banking mess... Oh Canada...YES! http://articles.businessinsider.com/2011-09-27/wall_street/30207348_1_basel-iii-speech-capital-requirementsExcerpt. There's an interesting backstory to JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon's fight with Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney over regulatory pushes for higher capital requirements on big banks. And here is another link with a video...which is very cool. http://canadanewslibre.com/2011/09/30/bank-of-canada-governor-mark-carney-got-slammed-by-jpmorgan-ceo-jamie-dimon-who-then-gets-slammed-by-max-keiser/I am so thankful that we Canadians said no way are we interested in having a banking system like the USA.... But if I was down there I would be taking my money out the banks...Yep.

7. You Think Canada's Safe? |
|
The exposure is pretty great as many local banks in Canada are invested into highly insolvent banks like RBS..... It is sad how it is all related.... It is going to get really scary... I dont even feel safe with my money in a credit union anymore... If people are waiting to 11/5, dont wait... I wouldnt be surprised if banks closed on this day.

6. Didn't know that was the day we are supposed to do it |
|
OK, I have a tiny BofA account that is connection with a debit card I used to reinstate my US Airways frequent flier miles. Since they're nice and safe, I'll be happy to go online that day and close out the remaining forty or so bucks I have in that account, just to help send the message.
Frankly, I'm probably doing them a favor, I use a local community bank for all my other banking needs, this was just a ploy to keep 40K frequent flier miles from expiring permanently.

...that if everyone 'walks in' on the same date, the lines will be enormous.
My advice is to send a message on a date that is convenient for you.

charge me an overdraft fee.
