Ed just said that Boehner also turned down an invitation to dinner
with Obama and the president of China on Wednesday.

Isn't that part of his duties? He's second in line, God help us all.

2. Yeah - that was reported a day or two ago. You don't turn an invite to a state dinner
especially when you're Speaker of the House.

Imagine if Picard told his command crew "Formal reception tonight with the visiting (whoevers), wear your dress uniforms" and one of them said "Not for me, no thanks, I'm kicking back in my bungalow with some brews and a movie".

5. its generally bad form to turn down an invite, but not unheard of
Heck, Harry Reid turned down an invite to President Obama's first state dinner.

But all things considered, it would be interesting to know what excuse, if any, Boehner is giving.

4. Petulant little 2-year-old brat.
I hope the whole world notices, points fingers, and laughs at him -- very publicly.

6. He is probably afraid that once the drinks start coming
he will be unable to stop and then he would think
about the bar his family owned and he had to sweep it
and then he would start crying

the weeping boner ... the republican STD
