Priceless: NYPD blaming OWS for increase in murders
Priceless: NYPD blaming OWS for increase in murders
By John Aravosis (DC) on 10/25/2011 09:30:00 AM

Get this. The NYPD is now trying to blame the Occupy Wall Street protesters for an increase in murders in NYC because, the cops claim, they just don't have time to go after murderers since they're spending their days at OWS.

It's the NYPD's choice to spend their days pepper spraying young girls who are just standing there doing nothing, and clocking young guys simply walking down the street. The cops made their own priorities, and they decided that manhandling a bunch of peaceful liberals was more important than stopping murderers.

And here's a thought. Violent crime just spiked in DC too. Maybe, just maybe, violent crime just spiked nationwide, and the NYPD is simply having a post hoc ergo propter hoc moment.

1. They should consider the abysmal job situation & economy that might be a factor
as to why the crime rate increased. The protesters are in fact addressing the underlying reason for the rises. :eyes:

3. It's a matter of staying safe
The NYPD knows that a murderer will probably shoot back...a protester won't!

to work catching the criminals. I'm sure you are made aware of any major demonstrations the protesters are planning. In other words, we'll call you when we are ready to be arrested, and until then, proceed as usual and protect your city.

I'm sorry that we can't all be a ragtag mob of gun carrying teabaggers that you don't feel the need to police, but you are well aware that the protesters do not need policing. Get back to work!

Let me edit to add: We are NOT going away. If you chose to spend your police manhours harassing us rather than arresting killers, then I guess we can't stop you, but don't blame us for it.

5. i'm sure many cops side with the protesters.
We should distinguish them from their knucklehead bosses when we talk about NYPD and other police departments.

7. Y'know, maybe the NYPD should like go do their jobs or something...
instead of wasting countless dollars and man-hours harassing people non-violently exercising their First-Amendment rights who happen to annoy powerful politicians & banksters.

8. It's pretty similar to what Biden was saying regarding less presence of cops.

9. Our information this morning at OWS NYC is that 5 current officers were arrested by FBI
for massive imports of guns for sale to criminals.

Twelve people were arrested. This included 3 retired officers for a total of 8 NYPD officers arrested.

Five current New York Police Department officers in Brooklyn and three who are retired were arrested and charged this morning in a federal corruption case that includes smuggling handguns, rifles, and shotguns, along with cigarettes and slot machines for good measure. Four other people were also apprehended before sunrise by FBI agents and officials from the Internal Affairs Bureau, who have long been conducting an undercover investigation into the scheme. Charges include weapons trafficking, conspiracy, and the shipment, sale, or receipt of stolen goods. Other NYPD headaches at the moment include allegations of spying on Muslims, planting drugs, abusing protesters, violating civil rights, slapping puppies, and unfairly stopping and frisking men of color on the street. The latter police tactic, of course, is meant to rid the city of illegal guns.

http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2011/10/nypd_officers_charged_with_gun.html

Note that the Manhattan NYPD and prosecutors were not involved. These thousands of guns are a rather more likely cause for New York City's higher murder rate.

So far no one on the Occupy Wall Street side has injured anyone. Or had any connection to weapons. Victims of a filmed 2nd Degree Assault from Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna -- yes.

We also saw photos from U.S. Air and Space Museum on October 8th, 2011, where a riot was incited. The two main individuals who caused that riot have been identified. They are linked with long-time connections to far right wing organizations.

Blaming Occupy DC and October 2011 for this agent provocateur action will end finally when these two criminals are arrested similar to police work in Rome, Italy.
