Effort to repeal SB5, Ohio's new collective bargaining law, has huge lead; support for Kasich drops
Tuesday, October 25, 2011, 8:44 AM

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio's new collective bargaining law appears to be headed for a decisive defeat as an effort to repeal so-called Senate Bill 5 is now favored overwhelmingly by voters, according to the latest Quinnipiac University poll.

Opponents of Issue 2, the referendum to repeal the new law, now have a comfortable 25-point lead -- 57 to 32 percent -- with just two weeks to go before the Nov. 8 election. An election that last month was appearing to grow closer all of sudden is again shaping up to be a blowout.

"The opponents had seen their 24-point margin in July close over the summer and early autumn. As we enter the home stretch, however, they have once again taken a commanding lead," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "Except for Republicans, just about every demographic group favors repealing the law."

The poll is again further proof that the collective bargaining law's popularity is undeniably tied to Republican Gov. John Kasich, who has championed the law from the outset of the legislative process. He took office in January vowing to revise the statute governing how public employees bargain for their wages and other workplace benefits.

Are a sheriff and his wife is an ems worker who always and i mean ALWAYS vote for the republican candidates and issues have a "Vote no on issue 2' sign out on their front lawn.
These were the only people for three blocks to have a sign up for "McCain Palin" in the 2008 election. :bounce:

Issue 2 is going down!

3. Kat$hit overplayed his hand.
They seriously counted on "We the People" being compliant and meek forever.

You don't declare a war on labor and expect there not to be any backlash. They were monster-sized idiots for even thinking they could.

4. I hope voters learn from this experience
and not those in Ohio but in every state that switched from D to R governors in this past election: WTF were you thinking?!? Look at the trouble it's taking to reverse the draconian laws ushered in by repugs in your respective states! Better, then to stick with a party with a record of NOT wrecking your state then, dontcha think?

14. You're assuming a majority of Ohioans can think.
Ted Strickland's, Sherrod Brown's and Obama's election were bugs, not features (there's a phrase we ALL could hear less of in 2012, but still). Our Northern Democrats aside, this state loves its right-wing whack-a-doos.

Kat$hit may be the worst choice of all. His campaign speaks volumes on how a majority of low-functioning, slow processing people can be easily manipulated into voting against their best interests. I don't really know how much logical sense it made to put a Hyper-Republican Wall Streeter in to cure a Wall-Street/Republican-created problem. These idiots thought "Yehhhh . .. Kaysik's gunner git them thur (insert racial slur here)s, the librul gubmit werkers and the yewnyens!" Turns out he's putting the screws to EVERYONE making less than $250,000 a year.

Hope you can sleep at night, guys . . .

7. The comments are interesting
Those who oppose the repeal use very divisive language - greedy public workers, lazy, etc. What they don't seem to get is that measures like this are designed to weaken the influence of a group that consistently supports Democrats.

Demonizing public workers is a pathetic way to solve asn budget problem.
