Steve Jobs to Rupert Murdoch: ‘You’re blowing it with Fox News’
Edited on Tue Oct-25-11 12:42 PM by Guy Whitey Corngood

The new biography about former Apple CEO Steve Jobs continues to deliver anecdote after anecdote. In the book author Walter Isaacson –a former chairman of CNN — recounts the unusual friendship between Jobs and News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch.

Despite being close, particularly over the last few years, Isaacson writes that Jobs was not a fan of Fox News Channel, and was sure to let Murdoch know his feelings on the matter:

“You’re blowing it with Fox News,” Jobs told him over dinner. “The axis today is not liberal and conservative, the axis is constructive-destructive, and you’ve cast your lot with the destructive people. Fox has become an incredibly destructive force in our society. You can be better, and this is going to be your legacy if you’re not careful.” Jobs said he thought Murdoch did not really like how far Fox had gone. “Rupert’s a builder, not a tearer-downer,” he said. “I’ve had some meetings with James, and I think he agrees with me. I can just tell.”

Murdoch later said he was used to people like Jobs complaining about Fox. “He’s got sort of a left-wing view on this,” he said.

1. Totally agree with Job's insight on this.
“The axis today is not liberal and conservative, the axis is constructive-destructive, and you’ve cast your lot with the destructive people. Fox has become an incredibly destructive force in our society. The traditional liberal/conservative labels don't work anymore. It truly is a sane/insane dividing line in our national politics.

3. That's funny since, by all evidence, Jobs was anything BUT a "left-winger".
A corporatist shitbag who wears a turtleneck and jeans is still a corporatist shitbag; one who unabashedly used sweatshop labor, fired random associates riding down an elevator with him (confirmed by more than a few people) and generally thought of workers no less than he thought of a piece of gum stuck to his shoe. He pretty much practiced what Faux News would call "good business acumen". :eyes:

"Oh but he wuz innovativz and teh innovatorz always hav their littl quirks and u just don't understandz hims" PFFFFFFFFFFFFT.

4. He was just busting with advice, wasn't he?!1 Told OBAMA he'd be one termer
because of over-regulation of business, that China was just so much easier to do business in. And that teachers' unions were a cause of the U.S.'s bad education system.

8. Yeah, over regulation my ass. I love hoewMurdick breaks into character
when asked about Jobs' comments. "Left wing blah, blah, fuckity blah..." he doesn't believe that shit for one minute. I do hope that Faux ends up somehow taking him down like the Frankenstein monster that it is.

5. "you cast your lot with the destructive" - that's Republiconism
in a nutshell - a totally negative destructive force against the USA

And Fox just amplifies and lies about the destructive idiocy of small-minded, greed and fear driven Republicons

7. I think Repubs see their wrecking ball of destruction as a necessary evil
toward corporate rule. Gotta drown the government in a bathtub. Gotta destroy the land in order to make profits.
Gotta destroy the middle class in order to keep corporations competitive so they can create jobs...huh?
