Andy Rooney Hospitalized: CBS Legend Suffered Serious Complications From Surgery

Andy Rooney, the legendary "60 Minutes" essayist who recently stepped down from his post, has been hospitalized, the network announced Tuesday.

The 92-year-old Rooney underwent surgery last week and is still in the hospital, CBS' Mark Knoller tweeted.

The network released a statement, initially to Newsday:

Andy Rooney underwent minor surgery last week and suffered serious complications. For that reason, he remains in the hospital, but his condition is stable. The Rooney family asks that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.
