Alabama governor does NOT want the immigration law to dominate his legacy!
Wow! The Associated Press interviewed the Republican governor of Alabama, Robert Bentley, and he stated regarding the illegal immigrant crackdown bill he signed during the summer: "I don't want to be perceived as the face of illegal immigration bills in the country, and I could be that...I could take over (Arizona Governor) Jan Brewer's place because every day we get someone from a national news program who wants us to be on live with them talking about the immigration issue...It's going to take us a long time to outlive those stereotypes that are out there among people that Alabama is living in the '50s and '60s." I found this interview from Washington Independent, which also reported that on MSNBC, immigration control organization NumbersUSA director Roy Beck said: "we don’t believe that for the most part the answers are in the states."

1. I don't know about the reasoning, but I agree with the conclusion.
If you don't want to be the George Wallace of the 21st century, then cut this crap out.

3. Your Immigration Bill Will Be Seen As Your Legacy, Guv'nah
Your immigration bill will be seen as your legacy, Guv'nah. Not just because of the perception you've helped give to Alabama as a state still driven by the politics of race and ethnicity, but because of the spiraling consequences concerning your pet bill's effects on your state's economy.

Face it, Mr. Bentley, your bill has driven thousands of people out of Alabama, is driving many of Alabama's farmers out of business, stunting sales by Alabama businesses, and is gutting your state's tax revenues. You and your fellow Alabama Republicans were the fools who made this bill law and aggravated your state's further spiral into lengthening recession. Your folly ought to be tied around your neck like three-day-old stinking road-kill.
