I'm in Berkeley, only about a few miles away. Jesus. This video is outrageous. They used rubber bullets and stun grenades against peaceful protesters. Why didn't the police every use any of these violent tactics against Teabaggers who showed up with guns to protest Barack Obama? No, they only do this when liberals peacefully hold sit ins. Not when conservatives show up with guns. It's almost as if the police in all of these various cities are hoping to provoke the demonstrators into responding in kind. I'm actually amazed they haven't. More from Mother Jones.

1. If they can get one protest to respond violently so they'll have excuse to erase them all.
But it would backfire on them, badly. They don't want to drive a violent response, there are too many violent people in the country looking for a reason, and cops couldn't control the result. Even if TPTB want a reason to introduce martial law etc., it would backfire on them. Hopefully they're not stupid enough to go this route.

4. Please spread the message to not get violent. The police everywhere are just waiting for
such an excuse to attack all of the encampments...It hurts to say so, this is totally fucked up, but it's important!

6. EVIL motherfuckers!
You can see a buncha people going to the aid of someone who was injured, then that whole crowd gets hit directly by another flash grenade and possibly rubber bullets... jeezis, this sucks. The police are utter morons; fascism is taking off its mask and revealing its hideous face to us...

8. When did tea baggers...
...refuse repeated orders to disperse? There is no comparison between the type of demonstrations the tea baggers attended and the long term "occupations" of some of the OWS iterations.

9. I don't recall tea baggers ever being given orders to disperse.
They were allowed to to not only peaceably assemble but also to openly carry firearms without any interference from law enforcement.

11. Not at all...

Pointing out that there is a difference. For the most part, as I recall, the tea baggers came, made their points, and went home. If I missed the weeks long occupation of public spaces please refresh my memory.
