"It's like Uncle Sam wearing clown shoes."
I'm finding this spectacle depressing, too. If this is all the rethugs have, we are in trouble.

Serious Question

Is anyone else kind of vaguely depressed by the spectacle of the Republican nominating contest? We do share the country with these people. And this is the face we put out to the rest of the world. It's like Uncle Sam wearing clown shoes. We have Jeb Bush feeling compelled to come out his monastery and issue a dressing-down to Rick Perry for dabbling in birtherism. We have Herman Cain making a mockery of the process with his stupid commercials. We've got Mitt Romney visiting a Republican call center in Ohio and then refusing to endorse the state ballot issue that they we're calling about.

I mean, it's just buffoonish behavior all around.

Doesn't this concern you?

7. And it sure increases my concerns for the right-wingers taking over the Democratic Party.

3. It's a freak show. Especially the Cain ad that shows the black
guy spitting on the white guy's shoe. Really frightening that the Republican Party has come to this.

5. It's even more frightening that....
... a substantial portion of our population is just fine with that sort of lunacy. :scared:

4. Yes, it concerns me.
It concerns me that despite all of this buffoonery, and despite the obstructionist republicans in Congress that are pushing this country to ruin, and despite the fact that they were the ones who were largely responsible for our current conditions, these treasonous bastards are STILL close enough to not only retain the House, but also regain the Senate, and maybe even the White House. Nearly half the people in this country are willing to give the Presidency to to one of those lunatics Goddamn right it concerns me. WTF???

6. Even more frightening is the MSM that takes these idiots seriously, elevating
them to viable candidates. It is indeed a freak show, but you wouldn't know that from our own press. They should have all been roundly ignored as the clowns they are.

8. I'll repeat: they don't want to win.
There were several real, viable GOP candidates and they all backed out, leaving just the clowns. I don't blame the intelligent ones...who would want to take the helm of the Titanic after the watchmen have already screamed "ICEBERG!"?
