Woman Stands up in the Supercommittee and asks Congress to End War & Tax the Rich
Edited on Wed Oct-26-11 11:01 AM by jtown1123
She was escorted out by the Capitol Police, but it was pretty awesome!

During the hearing she stood up and addressed the committee. Doug Elmendorf ignored her but she talked for about 45 seconds. She got up shortly after Dave Camp was complaining that entitlements were crowing out other spending.

She said something along the lines of all these budget numbers and percentages are hiding the fact that the people want you to end the wars and tax the rich. We want to pay for health care, etc.

Not much info here but at least there is some news:

1. She has the right idea. Think of the money we would save just ending the wars.
Taxing the rich would be a bonus.

5. "entitlements" and specifically SS don't cost a dime

Spending on wars are by far crowding out everything. Good for her. That goddamned committee is unconstitutional anyway.

6. +1
It's the multiple wars of choice, the "black budget" (spooks) and the MIC entitlements that are bankrupting this country.

12. Who would have thought that this damn super committee would come to
Us via the Presidency of a man who was a Constitutional scholar?

14. Thanks to "The Payroll Tax Holiday",
...entitlements (Social Security) ARE now contributing to The Deficit.

Payroll Tax Holiday Directly Connects Social Security to The Deficit

And More of the Same is included in Obama's "Jobs" Bill.

You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their excuses.

8. OWS should be there.
All of these policies - the continued warmongering and breaks for the rich while cutting programs for the 99 percent - are corporate-driven.

9. The PEOPLE are watching this "super committee"
and if they do what we expect they will do, i.e., cuts to SS, Medicare, then OWS must do massive civil disobedience - as Tom Hayden said, 10's of thousands sit down in the streets, - these bastards will have to bend to the will of the people because now is our time to act and if we don't then we will be crushed by the corporatist owned politicians both Dems and Repukes.

11. More need to do this.
However if more do do this, the Super Committee will only meet behind closed doors to do its dirty business.
