it's dumb to be blindly anti-Marxian. Marx and Marxian historians have a great description of history. The idea you need a violent revolution is not to be found in Marx -- in fact he said in America, it would only take an election.

Also, he was eloquent in his criticism of bureaucracy. He had more in common with anarchists and libertarians than with dictators and authoritarians. Remember the state withering away? Ever consider he might have meant that?

I'm not saying I think Marx is right. By rejecting Hegel and the idea reality begins with mind rather than matter he was blind to the power of propaganda and advertising to distort perception of need, and that blows up most of his equations. (1) there is no political party which can measure up to the GOP in terms of clarity, brevity and willingness to fight for principle (after all, if you don't know what you are fighting for, why fight?);
