Question: If I want to put my 2 percent into my Social Security anyway... |
|
can I?
I don't give a flip about my 2 percent and would rather it be saved on my behalf. I really don't need $60. Others do and I accept that, but, quite honestly, I don't think they need it as much as a job and a social safety net.
How can I make sure it goes into my SS account?

1. i don't believe you can donate it to *your* ss account. i think you'd be better |
|
off donating it to a group that was actually trying to fight the destruction of ss.
eridani has lists.

2. is the 2% "cut" automatic |
|
and can you retract this?
Good for you if this is what you want to do.
If you are forced, I'd suggest put it into an IRA perhaps?
Things could change down the road however.
I wish I had the right answer for you.

3. You do not have that option |
|
Look into a Roth IRA, or perhaps putting more into a 401k if one is offered.

5. I don't gamble. Why would I put the money in the stock market? |
|
I refuse to give MY money to Wall Street. I'd rather the government take care of it.
Heh... don't hear that very often, do you? :)

6. go with an IRA in that case |
|
I don't like the stock market either. It sucks IMO.
You'll need an IRA savings account which doesn't pay much interest these days. However, usually after it reaches $500.00+ you can buy a CD for that amount and get a better rate than a simple savings account would pay.
I hope this helps and it doesn't seem right to me that you don't have the option of not having the money taken out and placed into your SS account. :(

4. They are already putting the equivalent amount in your SS account from the general fund. |
|
The idea that the trust fund is being hurt one penny by this is pure nonsense.
