The U.S. is slithering down that poison pit and it will take a long time to get out of it. |
Starting with Bush's Iraq war, and Abu Ghraib humiliations that drew praise from republicans as good policy, today's cheers for death by debate audiences, and Herman Cain advocating killing undocumented immigrants show a face of America that should be a shame. People like Rick Perry and Herman Cain are leaders in the race for the republican nomination for president. Congress has been taken over by crazed bigots. The Supreme Court is controlled by the same republican mindset. If the Democrats don't get out the vote in the next election, this country will fall to the bottom of the pit. (credit lyrics in Mary Gauthier's "Mercy Now" for the term "poison pit")

4. The Right has already lost and doesn't know it yet |
They're dinosaurs and history will leave them in the dust. Let's reduce taxes on the rich and make it harder for the poor and middle class to get an education or health care. Let's allow corporate America to ship every good job overseas. Let's end manufacturing and have this country's major industry become the making of money with money. Let's allow corporate America to pollute as much as they want. Let's not fund green technology and let every other country pass us by. That sets America on an unsustainable course.
The people are already waking up and you ain't seen nothin' yet. This OWS movement is just getting out of the gate. I'm deeply impressed but not surprised that a majority of Americans now support it. Like Christian and Islamic fundamentalists who choose to continue living in the Middle Ages when the earth was flat, Republicans are dinosaurs and 'has beens'. They've lost but that hasn't yet sunk in.

7. The fact that they are now resorting more and more to voter suppression |
is a very bad sign for them. It's not the sign of a healthy political party with a strong future. There are just so many tricks in the bag before you run out. They are a party completely losing its grip and one day they'll snap out of their dream and wonder what happened.
