I wonder if a group of citizens couldn't bring a class action suite against Paulson..
There is evidence that he choose to make sure his buddies were taken care of before he started to look out for the well being of our monetary system.

This is unconscionable that none of these people are being even public ally questioned about what they did during the melt down.

Paulson, Geitner and a whole mess of other players should be brought to trial in a civil action.

I know there are safeguards for the actions of public figures to keep them from being constricted by what the people think at any given time.

Still, what the hell, why haven't these guys be swept up and made to pay for their if not criminal then at least ethical lapses...

1. What did he do?
I mean, I know in general...

And you know, it's all about looking forward, and not getting caught up in the deeds of the past, or whatever.

Sickening.

2. Frankly, it would be extremely difficult, for a number of reasons
1. There may be issues of personal immunity from liability for acts committed in an official capacity.

2. There may be issues of standing to bring the suit.

3. The matter may not be justiciable, i.e., a court could not award an adequate remedy.

4. What are your real damages, and were they reasonably foreseeable from the actions of the defendants? You may say, of course they were--but they may not be reasonably foreseeable in the legal sense. And assuming you have real damages, and the CLASS has real damages, how are individual defendants going to possibly pay enough in damages to compensate every class member, i.e., every American who has lost a house, lost a job, etc.

5. Then we get to the whole Rule 23 class action requirements, which would be difficult to meet here (typicality, commonality, adequate representative of the class, etc.).

3. Which goes to show I make a much better accountant than an attorney...
It's just from frustration, seeing all these people walk away while suffering little to no consequence...

The day when all the stuff came down, Paulson was making sure his pals from Wall Street were taken care of before he even considered taking action on behalf of the people.

Some might say that Paulson WAS doing his job protecting the companies...

Just frustration, I was watching the Al Jazeera comprehensive show about the whole meltdown.

Check it out.

And thanks for taking the time to spell it all out.

4. Frankly, I'd be happy to see some criminal prosecutions
Starting at the top with Paulson, Blankfein, Dimon, and their cronies (assuming there was "criminal" activity .... wink wink).

The damage they did will take years to correct.

:hi:
