Time for what's left of the working class organizations
to do something REAL in solidarity. The dockworkers in Oakland did a one day strike earlier this year in solidarity with the Wisconsin protests. This is right in their back yard. We need something guys.

The working class is the only ones who can really fight the capitalists. And their toadies.

2. We have to rejuvenate the women's organizations which are as SILENT as the Dems -- !!!
Everything has been co-opted long ago -- !!

4. For sure, but.......
The women's orgs don't have the control over the capitalist's money like the working class does.

And it's mostly because all this shit hit mostly and most violently in Oakland. As I said in the OP, the struck in support of the Wisconsin uprising. This is RIGHT IN THEIR BACK YARD.

7. Women are the working class -- !! Teachers and nurses have been majority female professions/unions!
Edited on Wed Oct-26-11 09:59 PM by defendandprotect
However -- "Women Voters" org has always been a dud -- never stood up for female equality.

And most of our organizations supporting women have been silenced -- co-opted!!

That's something we have to understand -- !!

Majority of those on welfare have been WHITE women and children -- !!

Majority of those harmed when Social Security cuts are made are females who usually have

lower benefits and whose benefits are tied to their husbands' earnings -- which GOP has

long wanted to disconnect.

One in three Americans now have cancer -- how many of those are breast cancers?

11. No argument with any of these points........
My wife, the nurse :), is now about 6 months past her last treatment for breast cancer. And every time I see something about the Nurse's union taking some militant action or stand, I bring it to her and my daughter's attention (also a nurse). HOWEVER, I look at them a just a part of the entire working class. Women's issues are, at base and like ALL social issues, economic in nature. So when I say working class, as a communist, I include women as my comrades.

until they began to lay them --

:) -- and very sorry to hear about your wife and trust all will be well.

All issues are women's issues -- is there any nuclear weapon or nuclear reactor that is

going to go off in your part of the world which wouldn't effect women?

Any pollution which will only effect men?

What's that old saying about us all being in the same boat -- and unlikely that only half

the boat will go down?

But one of our major problems has been looking to a totally non-responsive Dem Party which

has remained SILENT and overly cooperative with Repugs.

Same with women's organizations which have been co-opted by the RW -- and silenced!

We haven't truly had any female leadership since Betty Friedan -- and she was moved aside

as quickly as possible -- too effective!!

Same with liberal leadership -- the RW can only rise on political violence and we've had more

than 50 years of it! It not only took existing liberal leadership and our people's government --

it's been knocking out liberals before they even rise to prominence!

And it's not unique to us -- I certainly recognized what was happening here in America -- many

have!! -- but recently in listening to something from the BCC heard some notable guest commenting

that he has never seen a time in British history when they were so bereft of traditional

liberal leaders!!

The RW not only keeps RW members in power -- CIA financed many of our RW Senators and Reps! --

but it makes sure there are few liberals around!

Women are strong liberals -- we need to get back to movements which encourage them to think and

act politically -- many are -- but we need more of them!

:hi:

3. The biggest problem is there are so few worker's organizations.
Unions have been almost crushed, a lot workers are in the service industry and there aren't many,if any, fast food workers union or other service industry union. We really need to help them organize, if they would accept it.

5. True in all points. BUT the ILWU is pretty strong on the
West Coast. I think a little wildcat action would be appropriate about now.

6. You know what I'd really like to see?
I'd love to see the I.W.W. get involved, I get the feeling they don't mess around. I don't hear much about them anymore, but their history is fascinating. I'd also love to see a strong mass workers movement emerge, like Eugene Debs's old Socialist Party of America, that was a party I could actually get behind, and I am very wary of parties.

8. A little too reformist for my taste, although
I just read a book loaned to me by one of our comrades, "The History of American Trotskyism" by James P. Cannon. It talked some about Debs' party. Cannon was one of the early organizers for it. Later his Trotskyists actually joined the SP to try and influence it's platform during the mid 30s. Good book. I'd highly recommend it. Talk to comrade J.

10. Debs himself wasn't actually a reformist. After the October Revolution he said:
"From the crown of my head to the soles of my feet I am a Bolshevik, and proud of it." He was a revolutionary, his running for officer was purely a propaganda stunt.

12. The I.W.W. does. Debs's party is gone. The SPUSA claims to be the successor party,
however they aren't near as revolutionary.

14. I think you will see workers fighting back very soon.
Despite the few flaws the movement may have, OWS, has brought attention to this problem.
