- The Guardian reports that the Iraq veteran who was injured by police last night in Oakland is in the hospital with a fractured skull and swelling of the brain. This is just horrifying. More on the Marine, Scott Olsen, here.

- Here’s a comprehensive article from gawker documenting the police brutality in Oakland.

- In “News of the Darkly Ironic” the city of Oakland can spend several million dollars tear gassing and flash grenading campers, but the very next day they have to shut down 5 schools.

- The AJC reports on the arrests at Occupy Atlanta: “Some of the protesters waved small American flags as they awaited arrest. Among those handcuffed were State Sen. Vincent Fort (D-Atlanta), former Atlanta city councilman Derrick Boazman and Joe Beasley, the southern regional director of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.”
