on Countdown tonight, on his opening segment, Kieth spoke for almost 15 minutes without a commercial break. The remainder was hopeless until his Special Comments, which was outstanding.

4. Yeah, more than once I've turned off KO and RM, because I couldn't take the

commercials. Now I listen on my roku.com http://www.roku.com/ unit later commercial free. Anyway, I have MSNBC on enough during the day to make up for it...

8. I've noticed that quite often, the first part is pretty commercial free. I don't mind

a fair amount of commercials for funding the program, but sometimes the last 1/2 hr. is pretty brutal. What gets to me are the flash commercials between commercials talking about the next segment and then a long commercial. Many of them the last 1/2 hr. or so.

6. I think it's a good sign - the ratings must be commanding revenue dollars and

that's a good thing. It means people are paying attention. :thumbsup: I feel the same way about the advertising on DU.

7. Keith's special comment tonight was one of the longer

unbroken segments I have ever seen on a commercial newscast. The show opened with about 15 minutes as is the custom. So when I tune in, I do not see what you see. I don't watch much else save Rachel, and she gets dvr'd.

If there are a lot of commercials I think maybe it is good because the shows I like have a lot of sponsors. If there are fewer commercials, I wonder if that means the show can't get much advertising revenue which might lead to its cancellation. Or it could be just the opposite with more commercials meaning the network it is on is charging very little for the advertising because the show doesn't have good ratings.

I always wonder about Sirius Left. It seems like on many of the shows there is very little commercial interruption. I drive home listening to Mark Thompson and it seems there is almost no commercials at all and wonder what that means. I like the lack of commercial interruption, but saddened if that means the shows I enjoy can't draw advertising support.

Congratulations, you've graduated to the next level. It's pretty empty though. America in general is highly commercial. But we have to start somewhere in order to change that.
