Ok ok, so they want to shut down this on health and safety |
|
issues, and not being able to keep safety up.
Well, if you are a member of city council, in insert city here... I can see it... but not for the reasons they will use you see.
The movement has attracted a few... shall we say... invisible people. Who are these people? Well they are what at times we colloquially called urban campers. And no, it was not out of lack of respect, and the very long term homeless well... anyhow... think about it from their pov. They do walk by a sleeping person regularly on the way to work... but here, they are in front of their offices. So it is not about the safety of the demonstrators. I am actually impressed at how they manage to keep a very vulnerable population somewhat taken care off. And yes a few of these folks NEED medical and psychiatric care. No... not at all. It is the heath and safety of the members of insert city council here. Looking the invisible in the face might give them a case of the soul that tugs. That is not good.
Oh and yes, I am positive a few of the people I talked to today were part of that invisible group... by the by.
Oh and I know it is coincidence, but I took lovely public transportation. On the way over we had a guy on the trolley with a clear mental problem... and on the way back, I sat by an old man who probably had TB... so off to the shower with me. And no, I am not kidding. The symptoms were a classic of something that we should not have in the US.

2. That's the excuse used across the bay as you know |
|
but it is about their minds. These invisible people are literally fracking with their minds and consciences. It's easy to ignore them when they are in the street, in ones and twos... and perhaps at the St Vincent de Paul... but IN FRONT OF CITY HALL! You got to kid me... what will their friendly, ahem... donors think! It i all about first impressions you know.

3. Your analysis is absolutely on. |

The homeless are just too close for the comfort of the city "fathers."

5. Not so sure a shower will help you with TB... |
|
Might want to get tested.

It will come positive anyway.
I know that.
No the vaccine is NOT used in the US.
Oh and a shower is standard decon, as well as washing clothes.

8. Yeah, since it's an airborne bacterium |
|
I am sure that must help.
If you've had a vaccine, surely you are fine?
Though I've heard the vaccine is not so effective, so perhaps the shower is a good idea.

Also a patient NOT actively coughing is less infectious than one doing that. He was not coughing.
As to the effectiveness. The us says it is not, but it is effective to reduce transmissions in areas where it is still endemic. In fact it has reduced it in places like Mexico. The us is one of the places where it is not used. Why? It is not endemic. Your neighbor to the south, due to its use as part of a slew of meassures, now it is no longer endemic. So I'd have my arguments as to it's ineffectiveness.
Oh and I have actually transported actual tb patients, from the garden variety to tb resistant HIV patients. Yes, there is a difference. So am pretty familiar with the decon procedures.
Oh and one more thing, if a patient is under treatment, no way to know, their infection level falls off dramatically.
