SF elected officials at Occupy site
Public Defender Jeff Adachi, Board President David Chiu and State Senator Leland Yee are at Justin Herman Plaza hoping to stave off a potential police raid. Labor leaders and members of the clergy are also there.

6. SFPD is not Oakland PD to begin with.
As much as we gripe, SFPD does not have the same brutal track record as Oakland PD. I think our police command is also better experienced at working with these kinds of demonstrations.

8. Yes but beyond police department culture
And that matters. It's more the we fucked and the peasants are revolting. This is a real fire.

Was down at my local today and cops were present en force but...mostly relaxed.

DC Metro was awesome, no problems. Capitol Hill PD, not so much.

I'm sorry, that's U.S. Capitol Police.

21. Ingleside is full of thuggery and so is Mission.
Plus, one of Mojo's sources told them OPD may be assisting SFPD tonight. I'd go on tv for Taraval Station or Park Station but there are plenty of thugs at SFPD.

23. Yes. He is a city supervisor but you'd have to know the SF political system to
understand the ruling elite means in this city. There are, indeed, political machines and the candidates that they champion and (if they win) become the "ruling elite". Fortunately, we have ranked choice voting and district elections so the ruling elite's power in the supervisors chambers has waned. Many of the supervisors are, in fact, citizen representatives. This may change in light of the Citizen United decision. San Francisco maintains campaign limits and matching funding despite the threat of a Supreme Court challenge by the ruling elite.

I know that it is difficult for you to reign in your deluded self-importance but I suggest, in this situation, you put a plug in it.

4. this moment calls for a song
I feel like singing:

Lyrics to People Get Ready :

People get ready, there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket you just thank the lord

People get ready, there's a train to Jordan
Picking up passengers coast to coast
Faith is the key, open the doors and board them
There's hope for all among those loved the most
There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner whom would hurt all mankind
Just to save his own
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
For there is no hiding place against the kingdoms throne

People get ready there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket, just thank the lord
People get ready, there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket you just thank the lord

People get ready, there's a train to Jordan
Picking up passengers coast to coast
Faith is the key, open the doors and board them
There's hope for all among those loved the most
There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner whom would hurt all mankind
Just to save his own
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
For there is no hiding place against the kingdoms throne

People get ready there's a train comin'

22. This is confirmed. Dr. Yee tweeted he was talking to a PD commander
and Avalos has been very active in advocating for the rights of the occupation. There are some really good people in politics in San Francisco.
