Just think about it. He'll force Obama to address the issues that progressives care about, but won't be a real threat to taking the nomination.
Plus, I think the lad's got quite a bit of spare time on his hands anyway.

What do you say? John Edwards in 2012!!

8. Yeah, any challenger would reduce Obama's chances of re-election.
There's never been a Presidential incumbent who benefited in the general from having had a challenger in the primary.

5. So what if Obama talked about it all?
So if he were forced to talk about a thing, that helps bring it about?

The usual magical thinking regarding the all powerful bully pulpit.

thereby weakening Obama in the long run.

And John Edwards is pathetic.

If I get so pissed at Obama that I would vote for Kermit the Frog in the primary, maybe I could consider Edwards. But I'd still rather vote for Kermit than a creep like Edwards.

34. We don't need a cash draining primary this cycle.
Citizen's United is going to provide Republicans with an unlimited source of cash to market their message and character assassinate Obama in the process. This recession is going to hurt Democrats particularly hard...I sure don't have the money I had available in past election cycles...I'm sure I'm not alone with this problem, either.

I'm all for hi-profile Democrats coming together to debate the issues. Probably won't get the corporate media to cover, but the internet would be an excellent platform, especially if we could vote online for the winning solutions. That would suck some of the focus and media oxygen off the Republicans and the viewer feedback could help Democrats tune their message for the 2012 elections.

75. Happy to oblige -- you are definitely crazy.
1) Any challenger weakens the incumbent for the general.
2) Edwards pissed all over whatever moral authority he had with progressives with his stunt.
3) He's far too busy trying not to be indicted for criminal violations of campaign finance laws.

76. Will you be in charge of scheduling his campaign events around his court appearances
for misuse of campaign funds? This is without a doubt one of the more idiotic posts I've seen.
