How will Fox News* turn the Marines into dirty unpatriotic hippies?

Seriously - we have heard the folks at Fox call the protesters un-American, racist, commies, hippies, etc etc etc

So now that Oakland PD in its infinite wisdom pissed off the Marines - Marines who may or may not have supported Occupy before, but sure as hell are gonna support it now - how is Fox going to demonize them?

Because when you think of unpatriotic hippies - your first thought is the US Marine Corps (do I really need to add the sarcasm tag).

Fox HAS to find a way to write off the veterans - I believe I heard a vet on Olbermann mention that they have been accused of buying their camouflage outfits from Army surplus stores and are faking that they are veterans. Fox has stuck to the idea that the protesters hate America, therefore anyone - including men and women who risked their lives for America regardless of how we feel about why we are in the Middle East - who protests are unpatriotic.

You know heads are exploding - on one hand they have the Marines - symbols of America at its finest and on the other hand socialist commies who hate America - and now they have to someone combine the two? Crazy talk!

They are probably just going to ignore Scott Olsen, its really all they can do. But Marines are funny folks - they don't take well to being ignored.

I have singled out the Marines - but seriously all members of the armed forces get pissed as hell when one of their own get hurt and attacked.

My dad was in the Air Force, my grandpa served in the Navy during WWII, of my 5 uncles - 4 of them served in each branch - Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, 2 of them served for 20 yrs each.

I hate politicians who wage war for no other reason than for ego, monetary gain or poll numbers - the same politicians that never served or let their children serve but gladly have the 99%ers serve and risk lives. I am pretty much a pacifist on a global level (although personally I have never shied away from fisticuffs) but I have the utmost respect and admiration for our men and women in the armed forces.

Of course I will be pissed when Fox tries to denigrate Scott Olsen (because they will) but I will be gleefully awaiting the can of Whup-Ass opened up on them afterward.

They'll dig something up, twist it into a lie, and feed it to their audience the way a mother bird stuffs half-digested worms down the eager open mouths of her hatchlings.

5. I get that - but the immediacy of the images are hard to ignore

I think that with all the coverage its harder to twist - don't you? We aren't relying on memories from years ago of who did what when, we are seeing the blood and tears almost live and as they happen.

Eventually, reality has to be something even Fox faces.

Just like what they did to veterans who ran for the Democratic Party in 06 and 08.
