Back when global population was about to hit 6 billion, there was a LTTE in the local paper expressing concern, over our collective lack of concern, about this issue. A few days later the paper printed responses.
"There's plenty of space in Wyoming!"
This was the most succinct of the responses, but all the responses were of similar sentiment - global population is not an issue.
I don't minds have changed much in the past 12 years.
on edit: I saw a great bumper sticker once: Six billion miracles is enough!

Where I work there is yet another big wave of births going on in my department. And you always "must" follow social convention and be overjoyed for the new mom. It's hard for me, since what I feel is sorrow at the irresponsibility we humans display constantly. Species supremacists that we are....
When will people start waking up on this?
