In their gawd almighty rush to make Obama a one term President....
Edited on Fri Oct-28-11 09:58 AM by Sheepshank
...the Congressional Reps have damaged their own popularity, and continue to alienate their own constituents. Many of those constituents will be in the polling booth pulling out their hair in a hysterical brain mush of cognitive dissonance. Vote for the candidate who has been continually trying to improve the nation's economy, or vote for the candidate that crapped all over the nation to get one man out of office.

Sometimes party will win, but for a large portion the vote will be decided on a last minute whim and a gut reaction. It's going to be all the more important to keep up the messaging and the dissemination of facts, vs. fiction. It appears the WH is assuming a Romney nomination after is all said and done, and the facts are easy to compile for that particular Janus.

...the choice next November will come down to "who do you trust" to fix the economy: Obama or someone like Mitt Romney who "represents everything the American people hate about the economy."
(...)
White House officials seem buoyed both by Congress's low approval ratings and polls that show broad and growing support for Obama's policies among independents, Democrats and Republicans.

One top official said it is a "fascinating dynamic" that more Republicans in the country support what Obama is trying to do with his jobs act, but it is being blocked by Republicans in Congress.

1. Personally, I think the repukes bizarre plan to stonewall the economy
will come back to massively bite them in the ass.

9. I don't get it either -- UNLESS
most of them are in safe districts and can count on $$. Even if booted, they'll have cushy jobs waiting for them.
That being said, my husband, a life-long Repub, re-registered as a Democrat (not even Indie!)

He's a union man and I think he's finally gotten the message ... I will accept some kudos, though!

3. Didn't repubs do this when Clinton was in office?
Not to this degree but they attempted to block pretty much everything with him too.

It's quite telling that they went to this old tactic but didn't stop to take the pulse of the nation. You would have thought when their numbers dropped to 12% that they would have tried to course-correct this train wreck they've created but they kept going and now their down to 9% and only one GOP senator as said anything about it. Their arrogance is so great that they think they'll retain their seats with a 9% approval rating. Sadly, they've got time to go even lower.

foreign, some with no allegiance at all, are circling, closer and closer. They don't know who's going to come out of their situation alive, ergo, their financial survival justifies ANY means to "secure" it, including treason.

11. To my utter embarassment....
...I only got involved and interested in things politic during Bush's second session. So I'm not too familiar with past Dem Presidencies and what they went through. Little insights like you just mentioned give me some hisorical perspectives.

16. If Obama is a one-termer it will be because of his actions and failures to act and no one else's.
