Thank you Ms. Jackson-Lee. Thank you others.
The correspondent on DC's WTOP radio nooze referred to her comments on the House floor in regards to the Bush "Tax Plan To Hasten The Massive Transfer Of Wealth" Extension as "blowing off steam" before the House votes to accept the Republican Controlled Senate's version of the bill.

The nooze writer who used the term "blowing off steam" is invited to blow me.

The repubicans clearly control everything. A confident Senate Overlord McConnell warned the House not to change the Senate version, as approved by the White House. This can only mean the repubicans know that, no matter what is technically true, they control everything. No drama. Forward march. In lockstep, please.

Heros like Jackson-Lee have necessarily become more like resistance fighters or insurgents than elected officials.

Fuck it. Maybe its time to just tune out.

The squandering of opportunity shall simply continue.

1. They are in complete control
while fooling some Americans that it is ALL the fault of the Democrats.
It IS Kabuki theater--at it's very best.
The masses better enjoy this bread and circuses. It will be the last entertainment they get as we slip into an intolerable state.

6. This is precisely the point I was trying to make yesterday in my thread.

Because the Republicans are in control and are essentially behaving as if they have nothing to lose, I'm trying to understand what it is that people want the Democrats/Obama to do.

Oh, yeah...FIGHT! Fighting doesn't mean shit if Republicans use it as a delay tactic, the Congress ends, nothing gets done...and guess who gets blamed? The Democrats and Obama.

The bottom line is that the Republicans played this BRILLIANTLY!! While we're at each other's throats, they are celebrating. The ones who are pretending to be against the bill are simply grandstanding. In the end, they got what they want with a few cookie crumbs thrown in for the rest of us 98%ers.

Until Americans wake up and stop electing Republicans, this country will continue to go down this horrible, self destructive path.

7. The Democrats could START by not being complicit
Tell the American people the truth.
FIGHT! Even if you lose...FIGHT the goddamned thing. That way when it all turns to shit, EVERYONE knows who stood for and who stood against.
People respect that.

10. I hear you. Even if it's a lost cause, fight until all options are exhausted.
But even as I write that, I'm sitting here biting my nails that at least we get START treaty and DADT in return. It's very sad to even have to bargain like that. And it's sadder that Americans are allowing Republicans to dictate the terms of governing. It sickens me that the Corporate Media is also going along with this charade.

8. The die was cast when the capitulation started. Today's stunts are simply a continuation.
We lost this fight when Obama made his first reach across the aisle. It should have ENDED with the Judd Gregg debacle.

The Democrats needed to fight. That should have started in 2006.

What is happening today is simply another chapter in the larger saga of a party that resembles more the Vichy French that than the French Revolutionaries.

11. I'm right there with you. Still can't understand why Obama is doing this
after they are telling him to his face that they want him destroyed. It's baffling to me.

16. And . . . in the absence of actual facts, the mind fills in the missing info.
And *that* leads to unkind assumptions about Obama.

3. Were you watching C-Span this morning? (rec- btw)
It was truly astonishing.
Many of the dems were stating the FACTS about the numbers
involved- the repubs just kept repeating the trickle down story- to a man/woman.
I fear we are screwed.

5. The inevitabllity of this passing makes me physically ill......
I think I feel even more hopeless now than I did when Bush was re-selected...
My heart actually aches, and the sensation in the pit of my stomach is very painful.

12. Yes, the squandering of opportunity will indeed continue.
Those who finance Congress' campaigns do not give a diddly squat about opportunity.

15. That part of the lost opportunity would be simple stealing
The opportunity, as you point out, has been stolen as well as squandered.

Or maybe it has all been stolen and the appearance of squandering is for show.
