(AZ) Fewer women seek abortions (in the wake of new laws restricting the procedure)
Fewer women seek abortions

PHOENIX -- The number of abortions in Arizona is down -- sharply -- in the wake of new laws restricting the procedure.

Figures provided by the state health department show 729 pregnancies were terminated medically last month. That compares to 1,069 the month before -- and an average of more than 1,200 a month in the prior year.

Those new laws include prohibitions on abortions by anyone other than a doctor and requiring a woman to have a face-to-face conversation with a doctor at least 24 hours before the procedure.

They were pushed through by the Center for Arizona Policy. Cathi Herrod, president of the organization, said at the time the regulations were necessary to ensure that women undergoing the procedure were not placed in danger.

2. No one thinks of the repercussions of denying a woman her right to choose.
Not just the woman but the baby and also the man who must pay to support for the next 18 years.

Feels like we're regressing rather than progressing and it's disgusting.

3. Repugs sometimes post the goal is to get women out of job market
And back into homes.

It's an economic goal to provide more jobs for men. And to get wages up.

Their purpose is to place women back into servitude. They don't mean evil. This is a reaction to economic desperation.

increase in baby/child neglect/abuse.

An unwanted pregnancy is highly likely to produce an insufficiently-loved child, for some strange reason, but our anti-choice friends don't seem to recognize the horror of the unintended consequences of their actions.

Or maybe they just don't care about the years of misery and suffering they cause by forcing their religiowackazoidery on others.

5. Read the chapter in FREAKONOMICS about crime stats in CA.
Starting 18 years after abortion was legalized in California, before it was legalized in all 50 states in the Roe v. Wade decision.

Eye-opening.
