Dennis Kucinich standing up to be counted on OWS...

Occupy

Dear Friends,

An Iraq War veteran who survived two tours of duty gets his skull fractured in ... Oakland!
53 activists arrested in Atlanta. SWAT teams deployed to boot out peaceful protesters.

Recent actions against Occupy protesters are irresponsible and tragic. They're an assault on our democracy. These protesters are bravely exercising their right to freedom of expression, to bring attention to a political and economic system that's rigged against most Americans. I stand with them; and, all Americans -- left and right -- should join me in protecting their freedom to non-violently create change.

This isn't a Democratic or Republican movement. It's not about one party or one policy. It's about standing up to a financial system that's completely backwards. Wall Street banks get billions in bailouts and emerge with massive profits. Most Americans see a program of austerity in a painful economic climate -- benefit cuts, high unemployment, declining wages, and crumbling infrastructure. Congress moved swiftly to "save" banks (something I strongly opposed), and now Congress is paralyzed, unable to create jobs and to save our middle class.

It's no surprise Americans are standing up. Our country's economic policies have consolidated and accelerated wealth to the top. One percent of Americans now control 42% of our wealth. It's not radical to think this is out of balance or to demand a government that is of the people and for the people. I've been to these protests, and I can tell you they're filled with honest, hard working Americans who are concerned with the direction of our country and our economic future.

I am deeply concerned. I'm concerned about an economic system which tethers job creation to China and big banks. We shouldn't have to borrow money from China -- or Japan or South Korea -- to get out of this ditch. We should stop the Fed from giving billions to the big banks. We have to take back the power to manage our own economy, to regain control over our monetary system, consistent with the U.S. Constitution. That's why, one month ago, I introduced the National Emergency Employment Defense (NEED) Act. The legislation would put the Federal Reserve under the Department of the Treasury, and it would help us recapture control of our financial system. As part of the NEED Act, Congress would use its constitutional power to invest in America, creating millions of jobs by putting billions of dollars directly into circulation. And since this money is adding real, tangible value to our national wealth, it will not generate inflation.

We need a financial system that is of the people and for the people. We need to take it back from the big banks. We need economic and social justice. I will continue to support the Occupy movement. I will continue to fight for legislation, including the NEED Act, that sets America on a path of jobs for all, health care for all, education for all, retirement security for all, and peace.

Let's keep this movement alive. Let's keep fighting for economic and social justice. Keep occupying Wall Street. And, with your help, I'll keep occupying Congress.

With respect,

Dennis Kucinich

P.S. Please forward this email to your friends and family, and share it on Facebook and Twitter. Let's spread this movement, and continue to support the Occupy protests.

10. Good move, Dennis!
The balance of power is shifting to the people who support each other with care and concern.

Business as usual is hitting the point where it is blocked by a greater force, the 99%-of-the-people power.

With respect,

43. Did you lose your Google CD ROM?
Are you serious? The Wisconsin ELECTED Democrats were the folks who fled the state to avoid quorum for the collective bargaining legislation. Remember? Oh and there was the time that the Assembly Democrats argued on the floor for SIXTY HOURS. And they marched with us in Madison and they've all spoken of the OWS movement and how the Wisconsin protests helped set the stage for them.

I get that you like DK, but the general idea that he is the *only* Democrat worth shit is pure, unadulterated bullshit. There are plenty and if you don't see them, you're not looking.

15. If anyone has a right to belong to this movement from DC,
Kucinich does. He's tried with hardly any backing from other Representatives, for years to stop this system that is anti-the-American people.

Barbara Lee also stated her full support for OWS. Shame on all those who facilitated the downfall of the economic system and allowed crooks and scam artists to steal from the American people and people all over the world.

Thank you Dennis. We should use this time to force Congress to do its job now and sponsor his bill or face a challenge in the next election.

All those who made fun of Kucinich are collaborators and it's a shame that he had so little support even among Democrats for many of the excellent bills he introduced in Congress.

:kick: for one of the few members of Congress who has consistently stood up for the people.

There is at least ONE "Democrat" who is NOT afraid to STAND UP for Democratic Values!
Dennis Kucinich Speaks for Me!

”Unlike the other candidates, I am not funded by those corporate interests.
I owe them no loyalty, and they have no influence over me or my policies.”

29. Maybe he has me fooled, but...
Kucinich is the only member of the Democratic party that I have ever considered to be genuine. Americans should have nominated and elected him instead of Obama.

Maybe soon enough Americans will be fed up enough to do the right thing in 2016. If we even get to vote in 2016. We may well be a police state by then. I've been meaning to post the following for awhile, but politics has depressed me so much I avoided doing so for fear nothing anyone says or does can ever change anything. But just in case I'm wrong, here is my tardy open letter to Democrats:

An Open Letter to Democrats

Dear Friends,

We on the far left do not wish to offend you, but we must point out that we did warn you not to vote for Barak Obama. Not only is he a member of the corporate-funded parties, he was not even the best of the Democratic candidates. Dennis Kucinich at least has a voting record that backs much of his rhetoric.

Now the far right calls President Obama a leftist and blames the left for policies that will shift the burden of medical care away from employers and onto the shoulders of workers and taxpayers without improving the cost and efficiency of America's healthcare system. In fact, every time President Obama or Congress do anything to harm the American people, we, the far left, get the blame, even though we never endorsed nor voted for him. Many Americans believe the far right's lies and they blame us for Obama's policies, too.

Yet one good thing has come of this. President Obama has shown the world that America is no longer the deeply racist nation it once was. He is a symbol, although sadly he is, politically, nothing else, but at least he is a symbol we can all be proud of. Thank you, Democrats, for giving Americans that.

It is now time, however, to elect a president and Congress who are more than symbols and who serve the people, not corporate interests. 2012 is probably lost to us. Either a Republican will take office with a Republican Congress, or the Democrats will remain nominally in power. Either way, nothing will change. If we still have the vote in 2014 and 2016 (yes, dear friends, it is as bad as that), then you, the Democrat voters and organizers, are the only hope America has. If you continue to vote for corporate funded politicians, we are lost. If you fail to organize either your own, truly independent party or to organize sufficient numbers to elect Greens or Socialists, our country will descend into pure oligarchy.

We on the left cannot alter American politics. We do not have the numbers, and we are the victims of decades of slander. Only you can save this nation. It won't be easy, but I believe you can do it, if you have the courage to embrace real change.

In Peace and Friendship,

The Far Left

This is astounding but true. Amazing what such an interconnected media/politics/money machine can do. Orwells world has arrived. Right up there with giant right wing media conglomerates convincing the public that "the media" is controlled by liberals (so you better watch THIS show)
