OWS - I heart you

I've been thinking allot about Christmas. Well - Christmas stories and tales. The same old tired tales we hear, year after year, but love anyways.

They have a common theme don't they?

OWS as a movement is a symptom of a system of financial governance that has gone wrong. A good friend of mine once said that the poor people are the finest souls in the universe...polite, generous to a fault, and a community based spirit that was grown, fostered and beloved for its inclusiveness and fairmindedness. He was well traveled having lived abroad across many nations. I asked him if he felt this was universal...and he thought for a moment and said - yes, mostly it was. Some ethnic groups varied, but there was an underlying layer of good will. I asked him why he felt this was so and his answer was quick and simple. They do so because they cannot afford not to. They will help out a neighbor because some day that neighbor might be asked to help them. This is not the way with the rich. The rich can afford to be bullies, arrogent, condescending and rude.

If you want a rich man to suddenly become polite - take away all his money and assets for a month - and see how long he can survive without the helping hands of other people. He will change, because he must. It is the social contract that allows us to survive. We are social creatures in our DNA.

I think of these things while reading of flyers that the 1 percent sent down to OWS - and what they said.

OWS frightens them because at its heart, it is the truth. And so, some in the media will quickly try to cast the OWS characters as misfits and losers. Hippies....

I heart you OWS. You have already changed the narrative. Keep going. We are not out of the woods yet. If the supercommittee passes what they are about to - many more will join you.....not because they want to...but because the political structure that America is currently using no longer works for the vast majority, and your democracy is a sad facsimile of what it once was.

Your ancestors escaped from a feudally controlled Europe. They came in droves to make a better life for themselves and their children. They came to be able to own land, their own house. They came for a dream. I assure you - their dream was not to work 3/4 of their lives only to have their home taken away, their job eviscerated and their future destroyed.

Demand it back. Understand, that people across the entire globe want it too. A revolution is coming. Peace.
