1. I saw a roadside poster today "Cain is Able". He is doing odd ads.
"we've run a campaign like no one's ever seen". And the 5 second smile at the end. oh my

Well, if someone's campaign manager thinks I should vote for him, that's all I need to hear!

3. Indeed, very odd political ads--but it's one helluva book promotion!

2. He's doing it so every news outlet will play the ad for free!
And comedians will spoof it. The star of the ad is a Cain campaign manager.

The ad says--are you a mean old white guy with wrinkles and lousy teeth, who is stressed out, tired, and smokes? And do you maybe, just a bit, dislike black guys? Well, listen, my friend, Herman Cain is a black guy you can get behind...he's OUR black guy, sent from JEEEEESUS to get that "other" black guy outta the White House!!!

Or something like that--that's sort of where they are going with it.

He has another weird one out, too, with a cowboy theme...

4. You know, its actually really good.

I'm talking raw aesthetics here, nothing about the candidate. It hits me. I think it would pay to dissect this sort of thing, see why it moves the people it moves. (like me)

First you get this guy talking to you, in that amazing hangover vision, just absolute pure grit, pure reality. Its harsh. Its ugly. Then that sincere, slightly worried look at the end where he takes a drag. "That was the truth right there, I said it and there's nothing more to say." Raw. Real. But from that raw reality, that frankness, that seed, comes this elevation to a higher level, this ideal that needs no words. YOU know what it is, its Herman Cain.

DUer's scoff, they talk about his bad teeth, and I click a few links down to find the material I am supposed to enjoy connecting to:8 Gay Men Straight Women Love. The whole Huffpo, liberalism as metro life glamorized by somebody who is secretly uncomfortable with it all thing. Blah! Its nothing against the LGBT scene, I've stuck my neck out for it a few times now, and I'll do it again. But the truth is I would rather take some gay guy home, read poetry, and have him tell me EVERYTHING about his dreams thoughts and life till the dawn, (puffing cigarettes and needing a shave) then hear about Carrie Bradshaw's banal longing for the man in the metro office who dresses so well and is so nice because he is gay, a fact she finds so incredibly risque she has to write about it for people in a secret town in Kansas where they have never seen gay people, but will read it as if interested to seem more "metro" and sophisticated than their neighbors.

Do you get what I am trying to say? Reality sells. Ugly sells. STFU and tell the truth sells, and there is a reason for that. The majority of people in the US may like looking at celebrities, but we don't RELATE to them. They don't have the grit that working people have. They hide behind makeup and masks, they can't look in the camera raw after taking a drag unless it looks good. And because they can't face the grit, the hard reality, they have absolutely NO HOPE of looking at the ugly problems America is facing and making a difference.

So what I have to say here is soak this in, learn from it, accept the fact that only inevitability in life is that we all become old and ugly, but there is a deeper wave than this, than glamour and superficiality. Its's written in the wrinkles of the faces of a hundred million Americans. Lets STOP letting the Republicans own the non-celebrity people, the working class!!!!

As it is I don't really have any issues with Cain, against his person that is, but this may change that, you know how they call us looney left, well that's veering towards looney right, just really plain weird, lol.

9. Coupla points
1)Cain ad was crappy. It was ipso facto total irony.

2)Huntsman daughters' ad rocked! Great parody. Still a crappy candidate, though.
