What is the right comeback when someone so obviously misses the sarcasm you're trying to deliver?
Try to follow this conversation:

Me: He's intelligent enough to carry a political conversation.

She: No, he was uncomfortable with the topic.

Me: He's the one that brought the subject up and he was doing just fine.

She: I assure you, he hated every second of it.

Me: Okay, fine, he's too stupid to carry a political conversation.

She: I can't believe you think he's stupid!

What do you do when the person misses the sarcasm completely?

2. Looks like a counter to me.
Are you sure that wasn't some counter-sarcasm?

in a sequel to "The Argument Sketch".

9. Don't use sarcasm as a communications method -- it's too readily misunderstood.
This is especially true in electronic communications but also true
face-to-face.

12. For me quite often these days it's sarcasm/snark or start throwing things..
That whole "gladly suffering idiots" thing is becoming roughly as attractive as a case of ebola, I've heard the stupidity too damn much, fingernails on a chalkboard doesn't come close to how annoying it is.

I delete posts here before I press the "post message" button constantly and I bite my tongue in public constantly and I still end up snarking a lot.

"I am sooooo sorry you caught me with that naked 12 year old girl, a baggie of meth, and me wearing my wife's nylons while I visited my baptist church."
