Texas once passed a resolution praising the Boston Strangler!
Tom Moore Jr was a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives. Tired of his fellow congressmen not reading the laws that they were passing, he decided to play an April's Fools on the chamber just to prove his point.

He drafted up a resolution on April 1, 1971 that praised Albert de Salvo (known as The Boston Strangler) for his "dedication and devotion to his work" and that he "enabled the weak and lonely to maintain concern for the future." The Texas legislature passed this resolution, despite the fact that The Boston Strangler was responsible for 13 murders!

Tom Moore withdrew the resolution right after it passed, scolding his fellow members and explained that he was only trying to prove a point.

Sounds like Congress if they were passing anything.

2. I think it also mentioned "unique methods of population control".

:wtf:

An April Fools' joke but proving that legislators don't read the legislation they pass.

3. I just read about this in a Molly Ivins book ...
"Molly Ivins Can't Say That, Can She?" is a collection of her columns from years ago. Hilarious in places. Best to read them one at a time, as they were written.
