True Hispanic voice at CNN.com (certainly not NAVARRETTE) : Rubio can't help GOP with Latino vote

An elderly Hispanic is quoted in the article, "English-Only?! If I can't speak Spanish, I can't have sex!1"

Why Rubio won't help GOP get Latino vote

By Maria Cardona, CNN Contributor

Editor's note: Maria Cardona is a Democratic strategist, a principal at the Dewey Square Group, a former senior adviser to Hillary Clinton, and former communications director for the Democratic National Committee.

(CNN) -- Repeat after me, GOP: "Marco Rubio will not be our savior with Latinos in the 2012 election."

It has nothing to do with whether the U.S. senator from Florida lied about the year his parents came to the United States... ....

The reason is his record. Latinos, both immigrants like my family, and those whose families have been here for centuries, do not vote surnames. Newsflash: We actually look at the records of those who are running. That is why Marco Rubio -- a potential GOP vice presidential nominee -- will not be the "bridge" that Republicans so desperately need with the Latino community. His record is abysmal when it comes to issues that many Latinos care deeply about. Let's take a look:

* The economy -- ....

* Health care - ....

* English-only -- ....

* The Dream Act - ....

* The Census - ....

* Comprehensive Immigration Reform -- ....

* SB 1070 - ....

* Sonia Sotomayor -- ....

1. Rubio is an hispanic
and constitutes the true voice of hispania.

note well that "hispanic" does not describe latinas latinos, nor does the term include a single chicana or chicano and there are millions of us in the US.

atentamente,
mvs

2. Most of the pundits don't realize that the majority of latin voters in Florida are not Cuban.
Cubans held sway in south florida during the 70s and 80s, but the power has been slipping since. Many of the children are more moderate. Plus, most latin voters in Florida come from south and central american, have been coming for the better part of two decades.

5. The GOP is making the assumption
Edited on Sat Oct-29-11 10:42 AM by Mz Pip
that Hispanics will vote against their own best interests just to have a guy with an Hispanic name in office. It may work in Florida, but I doubt Rubio will have any National appeal.

6. NAVARRETTE luerved Shrub for appointing Hispanic-name Alberto GONZALES
Edited on Sat Oct-29-11 10:59 AM by UTUSN
But, actually, NAVARRETTE is an inveterate Rethug sniffer, detesting the "white Liberal males" who gave him Affirmative Action, constantly excoriating the Dem party about what policies to adopt that would best defeat the Dem party.

CNN.com just luerves featuring minorities' voices who don't actually reflect their home group's mainstream opinions.
