Law firm holds Halloween party, mocking foreclosure victims and the homeless
Disgusting.

On Friday, the law firm of Steven J. Baum threw a Halloween party. The firm, which is located near Buffalo, is what is commonly referred to as a “foreclosure mill” firm, meaning it represents banks and mortgage servicers as they attempt to foreclose on homeowners and evict them from their homes. Steven J. Baum is, in fact, the largest such firm in New York; it represents virtually all the giant mortgage lenders, including Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo.

The party is the firm’s big annual bash. Employees wear Halloween costumes to the office, where they party until around noon, and then return to work, still in costume. I can’t tell you how people dressed for this year’s party, but I can tell you about last year’s.

3. Maybe thier office needs
a visit from some people dressing up as snotty lawyers with a hundred dollar bill on a string, yanking it out of people's pockets ,maybe a few people dressed as sharks with bloody teeth hiding in the office ready to have a freeding frenzy once the floor has been seeded with a few dollar bills.Oh and be sure it goes viral .They might be sitting in a box themselves right next to the very people they derided.

9. After seeing this, I hate them just a bit more. At least this bunch.
I can't say I hate all rich people, since there have always been some who didn't see themselves as privileged aristocrats with the god-given right to shit on the rest of us (e.g., FDR, Warren Buffet). But the majority of them are redlining my hate-o-meter these days. This bunch of d-bags didn't improve my attitude at all.

6. Cute
It's good to know that they know the full extent of what they are doing and think it's awesome. Too many here think "They're just doing their jobs."

Ya...sure they are...

8. I bet THIS year's Halloween Party will forbid cell-phone pics.
The heartening news is that this firm is under investigation by the NY AG, and they had to pay a $2M fine the DOJ demanded. Another group is filing a class action lawsuit. It sounds as though this firm may be facing BIG trouble. I sure hope so.

As to the callousness of these people - it almost makes me sick to my stomach. These people presumably have families, kids, think they're "good people", probably go to Church on Sundays, yet they have no compassion in their hearts. How does that happen?

11. You have to kind of wonder if they are assuaging guilty consciences.
Think about it - by making light of those on whom they prey (both the irresponsible and the unfortunate), it makes them feel better about what they do. There simply has to be some kind of twisted mental stress in what they do - I know I couldn't do it, no matter what they paid me.

17. Must be Sewanee alumni

We've seen plenty of their students dress up like the locals: Or their boarding school, Rich Kid versions of Poor Appalachians.

Then they get drunk and puke on each other and pass out.

Real nice people....
