Skeptic finds he now agrees global warming is real

By SETH BORENSTEIN, AP Science Writer

(10-30) 07:27 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

A prominent physicist and skeptic of global warming spent two years trying to find out if mainstream climate scientists were wrong. In the end, he determined they were right: Temperatures really are rising rapidly.

The study of the world's surface temperatures by Richard Muller was partially bankrolled by a foundation connected to global warming deniers. He pursued long-held skeptic theories in analyzing the data. Yet he found that the land is 1.6 degrees warmer than in the 1950s.

His finding of a warming world is no different from what mainstream climate scientists have been saying for decades.

What's different and why many are paying attention is that some research money came from the Charles Koch Foundation, whose founder is a big backer of skeptic groups and the tea party

4. I must give props to Dr Muller for releasing his findings like this...
It's highly unusual for scientists to comment on their work like this, before the papers have been published, and especially before peer review.

I think he knew it would be squashed by the financial backers and would never see the light of day if he didn't speak up.
