We need a new flag.
Edited on Sun Oct-30-11 12:52 PM by valerief
I understand now what the US flag symbolizes.

The red and white stripes are the spilled red blood of the 99% and the endless white noise produced by the media to keep the truth from the 99%.

The blue box, separated from the red and white, is the domain of the bluebloods. The stars are all the stars in heaven available to the bluebloods.

We need a new flag, one that does not keep us separate and unequal. The US flag does not stand for the 99%. It mocks it.

Edited to add: Apparently a number of people do not recognize this post as a metaphor, so I'll spell it out here. It's a metaphor.

3. Thanks! If you don't like it, I must be on the right track. For the same reasons, you've given.

Which are none.

I'll try and write a better metaphor next time.

7. That was an interesting take on the flag
And I look forward to the day when the sign off on the TV channels aren't about the flag waving over war machines and troops at war while playing the star spangled banner. This country sure glorifies war.

8. Do channels still sign off? But I agree. This country absolutely romanticizes war.

And my take on the flag was just playing around. I could probably do the same kind of thing with a Maxwell House Coffee jar. The sentiments, however, are real. I really am angry with the degraded standard of living in this country.

20. I am in agreement with the sentiment.
Of course, it's not likely to happen without a revolution. And now I am leaning toward supporting a nonviolent/non-Robespierre revolution, although that would be a difficult thing to achieve. In the mean time, I think the appropriate display of the US flag is upside down in the international symbol of distress. This is the way AIM has displayed the flag at occupations and camps of resistance, e.g. at Alcatraz or in Pine Ridge, in opposing American imperialism in North America.

In the 1930s we had hope because of FDR, someone who was on the side of the people. Perhaps that is why we didn't devolve into fascism at that time, as did Germany, Spain, Italy and Japan. But now we have no one in power to oppose our gradual descent into fascism.
