For those of you still folowing Don Siegelman's case:
From my inbox:

Lots going on…

I will have an oral argument this Wednesday in Montgomery, Alabama at the federal courthouse, # 1 Church Street, November 2, 2011 at 10:00 am, in Courtroom 4B before Honorable Judge Charles S. Coody.

It’s open to the public so, if you can come please do. It just might help and besides I could use some friends right now.

We have been asking for a chance to be heard on issues relating to selective prosecution and government misconduct since 2006.

We have been asking for the US Government to produce documents which they have had in their hands since 2001 which will prove that while the US Attorney was preparing my indictment…her husband was been paid by my opponent…and that later the US Attorney’s husband ran my opponent’s campaign against me while I was brought to trial one month before the election in 2006.

We have been asking the Department of Justice to turn over documents or make the local prosecutors give us these documents which we should have had at trial. These documents prove selective prosecution, government misconduct, and show that witnesses were coached as to how they were to testify and other very serious misconduct by local prosecutors.

I just wanted you to have this update so you could come if you can. If you can't come please keep us in your thoughts and prayers..

All my best,

Don

He was smashed by Rove & his corrupt cronies in Alabama at the height of the US Attorney scandals.

For those of you who still remember that this is an ongoing fight:

2. The Obama justice(?) department is the biggest disappointment of the whole administration`
And this is one of the biggest reasons why.

What they have allowed to happen to this good man is just a tragedy.

And AG Holder should not only be fired for his lack of action to move to undo the politically motivated persecution of a loyal Democrat by his corrupt predecessor, he should probably be indicted and hopefully convicted and imprisoned as well.

38. Amen. You would have thought they'd be on this beginning on
Day One. Instead, I just heard they're trying to get an administrative action allowing them to say No Documents Exist to FOIA requests even if they do.

Some of the stuff they've done is as scary as under Gonzales.

I mean Obama is a lawyer isn't he? Wouldn't he recognize injustice when he sees it? Oh wait. The White House is following the Bush playbook which only pardons criminals like Scooter.

3. Somebody should tell Eric Holder about this.
Edited on Sun Oct-30-11 03:49 PM by bvar22
After all, the very first item on his list after President Obama appointed him the Attorney General
was getting corrupt Republican Senator Ted Stevens out of jail.
If he knew about the injustice in Alabama,
he would surely help,
wouldn't he?

"And while the DOJ is making a point to review Republican cases, not one Democrat case has been completely overturned. Aside from alleged governmental misconduct in the Siegelman case, there are paramount legal issues that have been recognized by 91 former State Attorneys General and a group of First Amendment law professors across the country. Both groups insist no crimes have been committed and the former AG's signed a petition for "Writ of Certiori" to the US Court of Appeals, urging Siegelman's case to be heard."

Obama was an intern at Sidley-Austin, defenders of the Bush cabal of law breakers during the oversight of DoJ. Literally, Obama's college buddy defended Bush and was Bush's White House counsel.

It seems like Obama was Bush's horse in the Dem primaries!

i hope he gets some people there. He needs to let people know in advance as maybe something could be arranged with some of the activists there. He should not have to do this alone.

I remember wondering why they were after him and doing a little research. I found a speech he had given after the 2000 election where he stated he believed that the election was stolen. Not many public figures had the guts to say that publicly. But not long after that all of this started.

It is shameful that Karl Rove and Dick Cheney are not the ones going through this.

to destroy liberals and progressives --

and Don Siegelmann offered such a successful challenge to RW evil that

they have tried to do such great damage to him as to dissuade anyone else

from following in his footsteps to fight this evil -- !!

One of the most shocking parts of this case is the lack of action/response from the

Democrats and Obama -- !! And Holder!!

This is an honest man being falsely prosecuted which should be a threat to Obama and

to all Democrats who may also be honestly fighting the RW evil -- but there is

only SILENCE!

And that's all we've seen from the Democrats on this for years!!

Odd, eerie, strange really doesn't cover it!!

56. It is a travesty of justice that Holder has not turned these papers over.
What can be his reason besides obfuscation of the facts to preserve the past administration embarrassment or perhaps a little under the table? It is the same as Holder and Obama refusing to prosecute Bush and his ilk for war crimes. At least none of the Bushista faction can leave the country without fear of arrest. It protects other nations from their stench. If we are so blind to true justice, we should keep our taint inside our own borders.

73. Oh Don Siegleman, my heart breaks for you and your situation.
I can imagine that you must feel very angry and bitter towards those who have perpetrated this grave injustice. It is difficult and frightening to think of how evil the politics are that put you in prison. These people should be prosecuted. I am hoping and praying that justice will be done for you and to them.

Meanwhile, every time I think of you I feel terribly depressed and sad for you, and for our country and its "justice system".
