What you can do short of sleeping in a park
Since Occupy Wall Street began, a lot of people I know have expressed interest in my involvement. I’ve been making suggestions about how people can get involved on their own terms, and I thought it seemed time for a public overview.

This list includes actions large and small that just about anyone, anywhere, can do to support the movement.

I consider this list to be alive, and wide open and available for edits, additions and suggestions. So comment below, on Facebook, mention @Averse2Ennui on Twitter, or get in touch if you have ideas for the list.

1. Understand the Movement

http://iamlaurenleonardi.wordpress.com/2011/10/26/eleve-simple-ways-to-support-the-occupy-movement-without-sleeping-in-a-park/

To me number one is essential, and until you do...

I'm quite sure blankets, shelter, food, bail money, and medical and legal services are desperately needed and that the need will continue to grow. But you've got that covered from every angle I can find on your list already, drat it.

14. may I use your photo?
Hi there!

I'm the original author of the "11 Ways to.." doc and I'd love to use the photo of your back windshield on my blog post. Would that be alright with you?

Thanks for your support!
Lauren

3. Thank you!
I have attended several events in Boston but your list gave me some good ideas on how I can help. I have several winter coats I no longer wear and books that I've had in the trunk of my car for over a month. I will bring those things plus emergency blankets and food to the site this weekend.

Thanks for everything you are doing, Nad. I follow your threads to find out what's happening.

4. Well once coffee is ready...
I will write down a primer on the geneva convention and behavior of medical personnel in these messes. No, it has not reached the point where the red cross should be in the streets... (in the US)... and let's pray it does not... but they need pointers.

I already have one on symbols willing to give away...

5. If this is going to be long term through the winter, then people will need to be rotated in & out.
It is possible to keep the numbers the same with some demonstrators during the winter taking some hours off to get warm and to catch some sleep, not just for comfort but for safely's sake (a few hours off in the winter with a nap and a warm meal will go a long way to reviving peoples' spirits). Or those living near the Occupy movements to bring in some hot soup and meals would be great and moral boosting.

This is where those who cannot be out demonstrating to help those who are by opening their homes to a few people once in awhile as needed. This will increase the number of people throughout the nation in being an actual part of the Occupy movement and to be of actual and practical help to those protesting.

8. Lawyers and legal aid at the ready. People who may not be demonstrating, but documenting
what is happening with video, pictures, recordings, tweets and notes of what is happening. Keep the world informed.

13. Take them some coffee.
I bought a couple of Big Joes from Dunkin donuts, and a couple of dozen donuts, and took it to them during Saturday's storm. They were very grateful.

18. don't forget the feet!
The feet are further from the heart and bulk mass of the body, and more susceptible to the elements

10. I would add: VOTE! We need to occupy the halls of Congress, state legislatures, and city governments
with politicians who will serve WE THE PEOPLE!

(I added that to the comments of that post.)

17. I just ordered a bulk pack of hand/foot warmers
for the folks at #occupydenver. We are expecting snow again tomorrow, with the police growing more resistant to tents and shelters to protect the protesters from the weather, we need to find ways to keep our people safe from the elements.

This will help with comfort at least.
