The SECRET LIST Of 14 WORDS That Republicans Are NEVER Supposed To Use

" At the very back of the now leaked Republican manual from Frank Luntz are 14 terms that Republicans are never supposed to use, and some of the words on the list may surprise you.

The leaked Republican manual is the entire framework which Republicans have been using for years to frame issues and win debates. Although it was written in 2006, much of the Luntz gospel is still not only in use, but is repeated verbatim daily by the GOP members of Congress and the candidates who are running for the 2012 nomination.

Here is the ENTIRE MANUAL:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/70467439/Leaked-Luntz-Republican-Playbook

For our purposes in 2012, the most interesting part of the manual that is located in an appendix titled The 14 Words Republicans Should Never Use. Luntz introduced the list by writing, “Sometimes it is not what you say that matters but what you don’t say. Other times a single word or phrase can undermine or destroy the credibility of a paragraph or entire presentation. This memo was originally prepared exclusively for Congressional spouses because they are your eyes and ears, a one-person reality check and truth squad combined. However, by popular demand, I have included and expanded that document because effectively communicating the New American Lexicon requires you to STOP saying words and phrases that undermine your ability to educate the American people. So from today forward, YOU are the language police. From today forward, these are the words never to say again.”

Here’s the list:

Never say/ Instead say:

1. Government / Washington

2. Privatization/Private Accounts / Personalization/Personal Accounts

3. Tax Reform / Tax Simplification

4. Inheritance/Estate Tax / The Death Tax

5. A Global Economy/Globalization/Capitalism/ Free Market Economy

6. Outsourcing/ Taxation, Regulation, Litigation, Innovation, Education

7. Undocumented Workers/ Illegal Aliens

8. Foreign Trade/ International Trade

9. Drilling for oil/ Exploring for energy

10. Tort Reform/ Lawsuit Abuse Reform

11. Trial Lawyer/ Personal Injury Lawyer

12. Corporate Transparency/ Corporate Accountability

13. School Choice/ Parental Choice/Equal Opportunity in Education

14. Healthcare “Choice”/ “The Right to Choose”

All of these words and phrases were decided on based on focus groups and polling. Terms like undocumented worker are still not used by Republicans. Instead, the much more politically loaded term illegal alien is used. Luntz also makes extensive use of language that implies a positive or negative right. The term parental choice implies that Republicans are positively defending the right of parents to decide where their children go to school. In reality voucher programs take money away from public schools and don’t give parents enough funds to cover the tuition and expenses of a private institution, but this fact is covered up by invoking the positive language of choice.

52. "Democracy is not the solution to our problems. Democracy is our problem."
Never say "democracy" when "government" or "Washington" can be inserted with a derogatory smirk.

Try this on for size:

"I'm from your democracy and I'm here to help you !"

22. I could do it
It's one of the few things I'd be good at.

Question is, do I want to wake up every morning and look in the mirror and think to myself, "Today I'm going to use language to manipulate the way people think about their society, their government, and their economy so I can get paid and so people will do what my boss wants them to do."?

So far I haven't found anyone willing to pay me simply to take apart manipulative language and teach people when and how it's used, but I'd be open to that if anyone is hiring.

43. Yeah, it's a very fine line
I actually stopped myself in the post you responded to from using language like 'shape' and instead used the word 'manipulate' because that's the word that best expresses my view on the matter.

Still, it's a fascinating area of study. Most of us think mainly in words, so how we say what we say is incredibly telling and also affects how we influence each other.

"Worker" limits, but defines how R's see humans, with or without documents. I hope Democrats have a more holistic picture of a human being.

YOU can embrace the Left's disingenuous language which suggests the "workers" are in line to be "documented," but haven't had their turn at the bureaucrat's window yet.

U.S. documents.

It is the right who decided to change common usage. C'mon. Use your logic. The only reason that Luntz proposed using "illegal aliens" is to CHANGE the common lexicon.

And, as you can see by your own brainwashing, it has worked.

I understand that those folks are looking for a better life and are trying to get away from the awful shit going on in Mexico, I support giving a large % of illegal immigrants already in the country legal status in order to keep them from being exploited and to keep their kids who are citizens from being thrown out with their parents, but immigration needs to be controlled, we are not an empty country like we were 100 years ago.

26. I don't buy it.
First of all, OCR typos would mostly be letter substitutions, not homophones, misspellings, corrected words left next to errors, etc. That's all consistent with sloppy typing, not a bad scan. Second, why would somebody import the document into another document? It would be more convincing to upload a scan of the existing document (or the digital equivalent, such as the original PDF or something of the sort.)

Anybody with a passing familiarity with previous articles/interviews/etc about Luntz and a word processor could come up with this. I don't see anything in the document that lends a particular air of authenticity, and I do see a lot of mistakes that ring hollow.

on how to make people like the concept of "corporations are people" for his super PAC he introduced Luntz in part as the person who came up with climate change as a substitute for global warming and my first thought was "well, that one didn't work out for you now did it!" I think climate change has turned out to be much easier for people to accept because they see extreme cold as well as extreme heat and global warming just allows people to claim that if the globe is warming, why is it so cold.

Oh, Colbert also credits him with death tax so maybe this manual is legit.

Republican congressional spouses, of course. Every Democratic member of Congress should have a copy and carry it publicly. Then when some regressive Repuke was holding forth on "illegal aliens" (for example), they should whip out their copies and open them to the right page.

Of course every voter should have a copy also, and keep it next to the TV for reference when watching the Sunday talk shows.

61. How many memos and instructions have surfaced that
paint a terrible picture of hypocritical, manipulative, cynical, inaccurate, deceptive GOP messaging that gets no play? Shouldn't the DNC or dem leaders unearth the half dozen or so that we've seen...going back to ones mistakenly given to dems on the house floor a decade ago...and including the ones that Roger Ailes distributed to his "news" team to phrase certain issues with a bias?

You don't hear about these except on DU. No news play. But if Charles Schumer admits that he suggests his colleagues refer to gop tactics as extreme...it makes the yahoo front page and my RW email how disgusted they are.....

sigh

62. Luntz with Colbert is some of the funniest TV I have ever seen.
Either Luntz is a 100% "IT Getter".. or the Arts of Irony & Satire are completely over his head. It is impossible to tell which in that exchange.

71. Not surprising
but still raises eyebrows because of a cynicism not even George Orwell, who predicted this, could have imagined. Repukes are the lowest form of life infesting this planet.
