“Reagan was the most successful president of the 20th century,” Reagan Legacy Project Chairman Grover Norquist told Devin Dwyer of ABC News earlier this year. “He took a country that was in economic collapse and military in retreat round the globe and turned it completely around.
Forget my views on Reagan. If I believe Grover Norquist then a great president would reduce the size of government, balance the budget and not raise taxes. Totally the opposite of Reagan. All of which leads me to ask, why the * does anyone give Grover Norquist time? He clearly doesn't believe a single thing he claims to believe or he's too stupid to know the presidency of his greatest president. Either way it is FUNNY.

2. Yeah, he certainly "turned the country around". Right into the toilet. |

Goodbye middle class, goodbye treasury surplus, goodbye union powers, goodbye honor, goodbye dignity...Thom Hartmann called Reagan "the most corrupt president ever", IIRC. Arms deals with Iran, Contras, Bush 1 CIA gambits...

5. He's referring to the mythical Reagan, not the actual Reagan. |

7. What Reagan did: dropped the top tax rate from 69.1 to 28 |
|
and ran up a 1 trillion dollar debt thanks to his 'supply side/trickle down' crackpot economic 'theories'.
He took a country that was in economic collapse and military retreat around the globe and led it into a pathological state of denial, so that further Republicans down the line could complete the task of cleaning out the public treasury, bankrupting the country and utterly deconstructing the aura of American military might.
He is considered great by the likes of Grover Norquist because he helped the obscenely rich get obscenely richer. Looking for any other logic in their thinking is, in my humble opinion, a total waste of time.
