John Boehner On Occupy Wall Street: 'I Understand People's Frustrations'
The Huffington Post Luke Johnson
First Posted: 10/31/11 12:17 PM ET Updated: 10/31/11 01:01 PM ET

Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-Ohio) said he understood the "frustrations" behind the Occupy Wall Street movement Monday in a speech at the University of Louisville.

"I understand people's frustrations," he said, according to Politico. "The economy is not producing jobs like they want and there's lot of erosion of confidence in our government and frankly, under the First Amendment, people have the right to speak out ... but that doesn't mean they have the permission to violate the law." Protesters have occupied Zuccotti Park in Manhattan for about six weeks, inspiring other protests across the country.

About 40 people protested Boehner's golf game in Newport Beach, Calif., earlier this month. In response, his communications director said that the speaker appreciated the concerns of all Americans and wanted to find "common ground" where both parties could come together to create jobs.

Occupy Chattanooga members also recently protested Boehner's appearance at a fundraiser for Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tenn.).

1. You should understand people's frustrations, John
Considering how responsible you and your political and economic cohort are responsible for those frustrations. You exhibit a surprisingly high level of awareness for a Republican tool. Sorry your golf game got inconvenienced, but this economy is tough on just about everybody, it seems.

By the way, the "common ground" your communications director was talking about is probably not on the fairways of a Newport Beach golf course. I'd suggest looking somewhere else.

11. So out of touch this one. He wishes for kinder days when people
didn't realize how much people like himself and the country crowd types were screwing them. They had to get greedy and keep sticking it to people when people have no other option than to occur[y. They created hooverville conditions again... what did they expect the people to do? Many have no homes to sit at and consume fox news lies anymore.

12. I didn't know protesting peaceably COULD break the law.
The constitution says congress can make no law against it..and the constitution trumps state and local laws.

13. Mr. 9% approval rating doesn't sound very humble, does he?
For a Speaker who presides over a Congress with a 9% approval rating, he should be promoting any and all jobs programs that Obama sends his way instead of working on his tan at the golf course. Mr. 9% should be kissing our collective asses.

14. "Permission to violate the law"
Of course, that "right" is enjoyed only by banksters and politicians, starting from POTUS and then on.

Mr. Boehner, your laws are gangster laws. There are higher laws that surpass them and need not be written down.
